Polka Theatre is one of the few venues in the UK which is dedicated to producing and presenting work for young audiences ages 0 - 13. Since the doors opened in 1979, this unique venue has been entertaining children with resonant, engaging and exciting theatre.
Over 100,000 children a year come to Polka and are inspired, stimulated and engaged by theatre, often for the first time. Polka strives to stir the emotions, spark the imagination and, most of all, entertain. Its two theatre spaces, the Main Theatre and the Adventure Theatre are designed especially for children so that their first taste of theatre is welcoming and relevant.
Prices range depending on the show but are normally between £7 - £16. Please check website for further information
Polka has two theatre spaces; a cafe serving a range of hot and cold food; a playground and garden; a book area for reading; a teddy bear exhibition and much more besides! Polka is also fully accessible for deaf, visually impaired and wheelchair uses and also has special BSL interpreted performances and performances adapted for autistic children. Whenever the building is open, Polka is open to the public, allowing families to enjoy the facilities for free even if they are not here to see a show. Polka also has a dedicated Education department that runs a range of drama, singing, dance and craft workshops throughout the year.
