Rosemoor Nature Reserve Rosemoor, Walwyn's Castle, Haverfordwest
The nature reserve is a great day out for teaching children about the way birds, animals and plants live and interact, to spot birds of prey, geese and other water fowl or just to have a wander around and enjoy whatever is there.
Paths cross the reserve and take you to all the different spots: the lake, up the hill (leading to the remnants of an old iron age fort + superimposed norman fortification), to the other side of the valley and into the wetland east of the lake.
It is also a great place to have a picnic. When our nieces come over from the Netherlands, we do just that and it is amazing to see how little it takes to entertain them in these natural surroundings.
