When we visited The CocoaBean Comapny Chocolate Factory I felt like I should have been holding a golden ticket. Inside this modern well lit area you can hear the sound of excited children coming from the indoor adventure play area that heads off up and over the top of the ‘chocolate factory’. Ahead is the generous café and eating area and to the right the chocolate shop!
The Factory Experience gives kids a chance to create their own hollow chocolate animal, decorate their own slab of chocolate and create a masterpiece with marshmallows. It is 45 minutes of chocolate a sweetie heaven, for the kids at least, whilst mum’s, dad’s, grannies, granddad’s and anyone else watch jealously from the glass fronted viewing area as vast vats of melted chocolate flow and the kids get stuck in. I watched as my youngest decorated her thick slab of cooling chocolate with sweeties at a ratio of 2 to 1 (that’s two into her tummy and one on the slab) followed by much jumping around as they ensure their moulded chocolate animal doesn’t get a ‘big thick chocolate bum!’ After much finger licking, chocolate smearing and wearing of piped chocolate moustaches (see pictures) they emerged clutching their creations and buzzing with not only excitement but also full of sugar. Time to head to play area to burn some of that off I think!
The outside play area sits on a number of levels. There’s a pirate with ladders, ropes and slides galore and the towering T-Rex we spotted from the road looms over other climbing obstacles and swings, all of which sit on a bark chipped area.
This is a fantastic visit and you can spend the best part of 3 hours here easily and with lots to do both inside and out it’s a great destination whatever the weather. We felt this was a great value for money visit for the kids, even better for those who don’t do the factory thing, but to be honest I can’t see why you wouldn’t. My two had a great time and loved every minute of it. And of course – there’s all that chocolate!
Entry price to the indoor and outdoor kids area and café is £2.00 for children and free for adults. The factory experience costs an additional £8.50 for a child.
