The 2016 Blackpool Illuminations will no doubt be more spectacular than ever. Visit Blackpool's glittering spectacle aboard an open top tram for the clearest view of the lights, or perhaps a ride in a horses drawn carriage.
Vist the world famous Blackpool Illuminations and feast your eyes on a 6 mile stretch of flashing displays. The display stretches along the Promenade from Starr Gate at the south end of the town to Bispham in the north and use over one million bulbs.
They are always switched on at the end of August or beginning of September and currently run for 66 nights. It is a popular misconception that the Illuminations extend into the Christmas period but this has never in fact been the case. Light up times on the evening vary from 8pm. in September and switch on earlier as dusk 5pm. They are switched off every night between 11 and 12pm.
Displays feature Laurence Llewelyn-Bowens Deco Dance and The Dr Who section of the Illuminations runs from Central Pier to New Bonny Street next to Coral Island.
