A warm welcome awaits families with children of all ages at Hillside Village, Aberdyfi. With its wide
selection of self-catering properties, sleeping from 4 to 8 people, it offers the perfect base for a
seaside holiday in the harbour village of Aberdyfi.

Situated in an elevated position above the town (which is just five minutes walk away), all
properties at Hillside Village benefit from breathtaking panoramic views of the ever-changing Dyfi
estuary, a National Nature Reserve.

In order to make the most of the uninterrupted views, visitors to Hillside Village are asked to park
their vehicles in a designated car parking area. This has the added benefit of making the Village
safer for young children. Staff are on-hand upon arrival to transport bags and cases to your
property in the back of a golf buggy.

Immaculately clean accommodation, with a welcoming vase of fresh flowers on the dining table. A
lovely welcome pack is provided which includes everything needed to make a hot drink and
biscuits, as well as activities for the children (colouring-in, punch-balloons, and a list of painted
stones to hunt for around the grounds).

Extremely well kitted out kitchen, with all of the equipment and utensils one could possibly need in
self-catering accommodation. The fridge freezer was large and the addition of a dishwasher really
helps with a large family.

Fantastically equipped indoor play zone onsite boasts a soft play with ball pit and slide for the little
ones, air hockey, table football, a wide range of toys, and an Xbox with Kinect Sports.

Beach equipment (including buckets, spades, bodyboards, fishing nets, crabbing equipment) all
available to borrow freely from the play zone

Selection of children’s books and DVDs available to borrow and take back to your accommodation.

Guest lounge with free pool table and magnetic dartboard, and free hot drinks facility – great place
for teenagers to hang out.

Beautifully landscaped grounds, with floral borders, hanging baskets and tubs of flowers.

Outdoor wooden play area with slide and swings on-site.

Coin-operated washing machines and tumble driers are available in a laundrette beside the guest
lounge – great for washing towels and sandy bathing suits after a day on the beach

Extremely comfortable beds - going to sleep with the sea breeze through the open window and the
sounds of the tidal waters rippling in the estuary makes for a relaxing end to a busy day.

 

Top Tips 

Apart from tea towels, towels are not provided, so make sure you bring your own.

Hillside Village is built on a hillside (obviously), which means it has many, many steps. If you will
be bringing a pram or pushchair, make sure you let them know when you book, so that you can be
accommodated in one of the more accessible apartments.

Groceries can be conveniently delivered to Hillside Village by ASDA and Tesco.

Hillside Village is just a five minute walk from Aberdyfi’s beautiful four mile stretch of sandy beach
and dunes.

Aberdyfi is perfectly situated to explore the southern parts of Snowdonia - Talyllyn Railway, the
Centre for Alternative Technology, Cadair Idris (popular mountain to climb), Ynys Hir RSPB Nature
Reserve (as featured on BBC Springwatch) are all within easy reach. The Wales Coast Path
passes right by Hillside Village.

If your family has a dog, it will be very welcome at Hillside Village, where all properties allow dogs.

Hillside Village nestles into the hillside overlooking the Dovey Estuary. It is a serene and beautiful place whichever season you choose to visit and certainly a fabulous stay for the children. Just on your doorstep is an expansive sandy beach with large sand dunes to explore. Because of the elevated position, each one of the self-catering apartments has wonderful panoramic views overlooking the coast and the ever-changing vista. Hillside Village has many wonderful facilities for the family to enjoy including a soft play area for little ones, an interactive games room for the teenagers and exciting things in development. This coastal retreat is located within the Snowdonia National Park and so provides a fabulous base for family adventures.

Self Catering Apartments for Families

With spectacular water views of the estuary from each of the apartments and its superb location, families are going to love a stay here. Beautifully situated they provide a tranquil haven for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The self-catering apartments vary in size from two to four bedroom, with the largest  holiday home able to accommodate a family of 8. Some apartments are limited mobility friendly with easy access. All properties are dog friendly which is good news for your four legged friend who doesn't want to get left behind. Each spacious, apartment is furnished to a good standard providing homely comforts with kitchens equipped with all the mod cons. Kitchens have electric cookers with built-in hobs & ovens, microwave ovens, toasters, automatic kettles, fridge/freezer and a comprehensive range of cooking utensils. Each south facing holiday apartment has an enclosed balcony or terrace, where you can look out over the estuary to Cardigan Bay and admire the ever changing sea views. Every apartment is allocated a free parking space in the onsite car park.  

Facilities to keep kids amused

The games room has just been recently renovated to make sure that kids of all ages have something to keep them occupied. It is the perfect place for the youngsters and parents to escape to while dinner is being prepared or just a change of scenery. Perfect for rainy days, the additional space away from the apartments means that you never feel cooped up. There is a soft play area for little ones with a slide, and ball pit. The interactive games room will be a hit with the teenagers kitted out with the latest Xbox 360 Kinect and games such as Kinect sports for all the family to enjoy. Grown-ups can enjoy a read of the morning newspaper whilst enjoying a coffee and relaxing in the large comfy sofas. And families can organise their own tournaments to pit their skills against each other with a game of air hockey, table football or pool.

Hillside Villages idyllic location provides the perfect base to explore the surrounding areas whether it be the miles of year round dog friendly sandy beaches and dunes or the many footpaths which lead straight from the Hillside Village to the hills and mountains beyond. You can take a boat trip and spot the local dolphins, explore the local slate caverns or take a journey back in time on the local steam railway. There are a varitey of wonderful places to eat from café’s to restaurant all only a minute away. This really is the perfect place to make family memories that last a lifetime.

  • King Arthurs Labrinth

    Found deep beneath the mountains of Southern Snowdonia, this mysterious attraction is one of the best days out and right on the border of mid Wales and north Wales. Join a mysterious hooded boatman and sail by underground boat through a magical waterfall - your gateway to the Dark Ages and a time of myth, magic, dragons, giants and King Arthur. It's surrounded by other attractions such as Coris craft centre and shops, with so many things to do and free parking, you could plan to make it a day out!

  • Both Zoo

    Are a rapidly expanding Zoo in Mid Wales, near Aberystwyth. Who are dedicated to conservation and have endangered animals and birds. They have a pair of young African lions this year, which were surplus from Noahs Ark Zoo Farm. There are lots of attractions and daily activities for visitors to enjoy, Reptile shows when you may touch and stroke lizards and snakes, feeding times for the Crocodiles, Leopard, Lynx, Lions, Owls and Meerkats. Bunny and Pony grooming sessions. All these activities include a talk about the animals and a question time. They are all free. In the summer there are Pony rides for children. The Animalarium in Wales is a disabled friendly zoo, with flat concrete paths to all exhibits in the main zoo area, no steps and only gentle slopes. This means that it is easy to walk around, use a wheelchair and to push your buggy.

  • Coed y Brenin

    Along with its world famous mountain bike trails, Coed Y Brenin has lots to offer visitors of all ages and abilities. The Forest Café serves a wide range of home made food and drinks, from tea and cakes, to very locally sourced venison burgers – the deer live in the forest around the centre. The café uses Fairtrade ingredients where local options are not available and serves up excellent food to reward a day of walking or cycling in the forest. VC page 2In addition to a gift and craft shop, the visitor centre has three play areas in close proximity, including a wild play space for den building and dam construction. The Animal Puzzle Trail starts right next to the play area and is a rewarding way to encourage children out into the wider woods on an easy to follow, all ability & pushchair friendly path. There are also audio guides available for this walk, which tell the story of the forest wildlife and put local history in context.
