About Beech Croft Farm Caravan & Camping Park
Beech Croft Farm is a friendly, family-run caravan park and campsite located between Buxton and Bakewell in Derbyshire. With the cheeky resident pygmy goats - Rosie & Jim, a small children’s play area, advernture trails and space for ball games it is a perfect spot for families to try their hand at camping. Situated adjacent to the owners small sheep farm, with views towards the rolling Derbyshire hills and stunning walks right from the campsite, it is an ideal base for exploring the Peak District National Park.
A warm and friendly welcome awaits you from John & Julie Gregory who run the campsite alongside their small sheep farm. Beech Croft Farm is beautifully situated, nestling in a sheltered meadow, with stunning views towards the lush Derbyshire countryside. Touring caravans, motor caravans and family tents are welcome here. Beech Croft Farm is located at Blackwell in the Peak, a small hamlet with just 10 houses and a few small farms. The Monsal Trail with its newly opened tunnels and cycle hire facilities is just ¾ of a mile along the Pennine Bridleway from the campsite entrance. Local places for day trips include Bakewell, Buxton, Castleton, Chatsworth, and many other charming towns and villages.
Child friendly campsite in the Peak District
There are 30 hardstanding caravan pitches which all include 16 amp electric hook ups, water tap and TV socket providing a digital signal. The caravan hardstanding pitches are relatively flat. For families with tents, there are three camping areas where you can choose where to pitch. Most of the pitches are slightly sloping being nestled into the hillside but if you do if require a flat pitch then you need to head right to the top of the campsite. However the further up the field you are the further away you are to the toiler/ shower block.
The park offers excellent facilities including toilet and shower block with underfloor heating which keeps the building toast and warm. The immaculate shower block is well kept and showers are free to use so need to worry about feeding a meter. There is a small on-site shop offering basic provisions that also sells Calor and Camping Gaz. There are 10amp electric hookups available which can be used by purchasing a prepayment card. Unused units are refunded to you at the end of your stay. There is a minimum of two night stays at weekends (in high season) and three nights minimum at bank holidays.
On the way to the toilet block you pass the Pygmy goat enclosure, the laundry room and a useful wooden cabin which houses a hot drink machine and basic cooking facilities including a microwave. This really comes into its own the weather decides not to comply.
A small play area for the children has some climbing equipment and enjoys the most fantastic views of the surrounding area. Also there is plenty of space for ball games and for the kids to run off steam.
There is also a fully enclosed dog exercise field so you don’t need to leave your beloved four legged friend behind. The campsite has fantastic views and beautiful walks are easily accessible from the site or within a short drive.
A food van sometimes frequents the campsite, serving breakfasts, snacks and pizzas.
There are lots of beautiful walks accessible by walking straight from the campsite including Chee Dale and the Monsal trail. Chee Dale is a hidden gem, a beautiful walk in the valley along the river, it is simply stunning but this is not a walk for when the river is high. The Monsal trail is only a 30 min walk away, great for cycling with its old tunnels.
