Bluestone National Park Resort

Child friendly cottage, Pembrokeshire – Canaston Wood, Narberth, Pembrokeshire

About Bluestone National Park Resort

A totally geared up for families, child-friendly resort with heaps to do for the whole family.

Bluestone, positioned amidst the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in Wales, is the first park to be awarded five-star status by the Welsh Assembly - you will appreciate why. The site has been built with the environment and local eco-system in mind. 178 beautifully sited and furnished lodges sit around a traditionally designed Pembrokeshire village within 500 acres of stunning countryside. The village is completely traffic free with a green available for the kids to meet and greet new friends whilst the adults do a ‘local shop' thoughtfully supplied where possible with local, fresh produce. The ‘village' includes restaurants, a pub, a fabulous holistic spa and a myriad of sports and leisure facilities - all available for your fun-filled family break.

Family Holiday Accommodation

Bluestone offers a broad range of accommodation and is perfect for cross-generational families or large groups of friends to holiday together without compromise. The luxurious accommodation comprises a mixture of studios, cottages and lodges enabling you to suit all of your extended families requirements. The studios and cottages are built in traditional Welsh style and located in the village itself. The lodges are built from sustainably-sourced European whitewood and are located within two Bluestone vales.

Studios are primarily first floor and are perfect for younger couples - there are no kitchen facilities so eating out is expected. The cottages are terraced and situated within the village. They are available with one or two bedrooms; the two bedroom consists of one double and one room with full size bunks.

The wooden lodges are either semi-detached or detached. The semi-detached Caldey Lodges have two bedrooms, a wet-room (excluding bath) and a large open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. Some have interconnecting doors so are ideal for a couple of families sharing. In fact those not connecting are also ideal for holiday shares! Each has its own patio area. The premier lodges have the best views.

The ‘upside down' Ramsey lodges are detached with two en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor. A studio-style kitchen and spacious lounge on the first floor take full advantage of the views. Again there's an outside patio area.

The Skomer Lodges are incredibly spacious detached lodges with three bedrooms and three bathrooms (two en-suite) and sleep six people generously.  An open-plan kitchen leads to the lounge area with a mezzanine floor and balcony directly above. There is also a den or ‘cwtch' in Welsh with a separate tv and roomy bean bag for the kids to crash on.

All living areas have extremely comfortable sofas and flat screen TVs. All accommodation types are more than fully equipped in the kitchen (studios of course excluded) so don't worry about packing the sink!  The bathroom in our Skomer lodge was enormous and could easily house the full Away with the Kids entourage - all 6 kids in one go. Underfloor heating was a big treat for them too!

The wide range of activities and facilities on site meet the demands of all ages, that is you may choose from teddy bears picnics for toddlers, Off Road Safari's for Juniors and 3 hour spa sessions for Mums - or Dads!

Younger children can enjoy activities including Princess & Pirate Parties, Messy Sessions and Face Painting. Mini Rangers involves hands-on, sensory learning experiences focusing on nature -explore and collect outdoors and create collages as part of crafty fun indoors. Aggie went on a two hour Mini-Pirates expedition and had a ball with two grown up pirates formulating treasure maps, finding gold etc - she arrived back with face paint and a big smile on her face - Two hours at £12.50 per child, aged 2-5 yrs.

Junior Rangers, aged 5 to 9 yrs, are budding intrepid explorers. Professionally qualified and experienced staff will whisk them away and encourage them to play freely and learn via the nature trails, bug'n'grub hunting, bird feeders and insect houses building and craft activities.  They might also a game of 5-a-side.

Craft fun lets them choose their project and might be mask-making, puppetry, canvas or mug painting, collage or making exotic Lanterns. Techniquest consists of 26 interactive exhibits to explore, all designed to keep you challenged and entertained and teach a little about science.

Off-Roading is something Eve and Lottie LOVE. How grown up to dive in your mini off-road vehicle and hit the purpose-built course where parents can watch (and cringe when witnessing road rage!).

Alternatively you might all hire a bike and explore the glorious countryside.  Me and my tiny calves however balked when Helen mentioned hills - though walk-able I have no desire to damage my-self trying to tow Aggie up a hill!  We opted to hire a buggy (£70 for a weekend) and it proved the BIGGEST success.

Indoor sports are available in the huge sports hall, gym people will love the superb state-of-the-art Nautilus One gym.

Adults can try their hand at Circus Skills or Raft Building, Archery or the Driving Range, otherwise get out and explore a Bushtrail!

You'd be seriously amiss to not explore the area with some of Britain's most fantastic beaches waiting for serious sand castle building competitions and villages, castles and historical sites to explore, as well as stunning coastal paths to enjoy the simple things in life.
