Brittany

Brittany is one of the most beautiful regions in France, surrounded by coastline, pretty and well maintainted countryside and villages and not too far from the channel ports. Visit historic towns, see the local culture being displayed at many festivals and most definately spend some time enjoying the beaches, and not forgetting the taste of real French cuisine. The historic town of Dinan is where you can see many medieval buildings, or enjoy their weekly market or wander down a cobbled street to the port and hire a boat for a leisurely trip down the river. The world famous Mont St Michel is not to be missed with its distictive features rising dramatically from the sea. This much visited monument on the borders of Brittany and Normand is one of France's most iconic images. St Malo and Dinard face each other across the estuary of the River Rance. St Malo is a busy port with an attractive medieval walled city, crammed with lovely boutiques and bistros, whilst its neighbour across the river Dinard is a seaside resort full of belle époque charm and hosts the annual British Film Festival each September. Cap Fréhel, a windswept peninsula with views over the Emerald Coast and Channel Islands has stunning cliff top walks. Fort de la Latte is a 14th century castle set against this dramatic clifftop location a few kilometres east of Cap-Fréhel with a stunning expansive sandy beach at Sables-d’Or-Les-Pins nearby as pictured above.
