Cocketts is set in one acre of glorious gardens complete with an orchard, large tree swing, space to play ball games and a playhouse stashed full of garden toys. Beyond that there’s farmland with walks and cycling routes accessible from your doorstep.
Sympathetically restored, this 16th century Quaker built cottage is as beautiful as it is relaxing. It has exposed beams throughout, solid oak flooring, leather sofas and a large kitchen diner that seats 8 comfortably.
The lounge is a comfortable relaxing space with a flatscreen TV (Freeview) and a beautiful log burning stove in the inglenook fireplace. The owners will provide you with a basket of logs when you arrive.
The farmhouse kitchen is equipped with a large fridge/freezer, microwave, double oven and dishwasher.
Downstairs there are also two porches where you can leave muddy boots or sandy sandals, a utility room complete with washing machine and tumble dryer and a shower room.
On the first floor are two large king size bedrooms and the family bathroom.Oh, and Brandy the rocking horse!
Upstairs again is the attic which has beautiful exposed beams in the vaulted ceilings. There is a twin room up here and a playroom which can sleep an additional 3 guests on futons (1 x single and 1 x double).
Directly outside the cottage is the garden with a west facing patio where you can sit at the large garden table, sip your early evening G&T and watch the children play on the lawn with the garden toys or in the wooden playhouse. Beyond the garden is a larger grassed area, perfect for bigger ones and adults to play a game of football or badminton, or bring along a croquet set for some family fun. Leave the grassy area and you’ll enter the old orchard - a place where you can grab some peace on the large tree swing amongst apple, plum, walnut and quince trees. There’s also a picnic table here for fair weather dining.
