About Glisten Glamping in the Pays Basque
Glamorous camping that really does add that touch of class
The Glisten Camping Geodomes are absolutely awesome. They are a living/sleeping space that screams FUN, LUXE and ADVENTURE with real beds for the adults and cool sleeping hammocks for the kids. A fully fitted kitchen with fridge and microwave is adjacent to the dome and a family sized hammock is set up on the decking to catch the rays and chillax in. Glisten is all about having a top class glamping holiday. The Pays Basque region in France ticks all the boxes for a fabulous family holiday; beaches, culture, activities galore, mountains, forests and great cities.
The Glisten Experience
Forget what you know about camping, paint yourself a different picture. You’re in a striking, spacious, luxurious dome. There are hanging beds for the children, a good mattress on a king-size bed, proper al fresco dining , space for everyone: this is camping with solidity, comfort and style. Your amazing dome’s on a hand-picked site in France’s warm southwest. Somewhere the kids can play safely and come back happy, somewhere you can relish that moonlit, after-dinner calm, sipping wine and star-gazing. Maybe you think you need a holiday just to recover from a family camping holiday, but maybe you’ve never heard of Glisten…
Glisten’s owner Simon placed great importance on the look and feel of his domes. This approach was also the only way he had a chance of convincing his wife to try camping. “We love the great outdoors, but my wife really likes her comforts and, with little kids, she appreciates her sleep,” says Simon. “We started to feel weird staying in motor homes in the middle of beautiful forests.” And so Glisten Camping was born.
The Geodome has a beautifully designed interior, which consists of a double bedroom, twin bedroom with hanging beds for children and a lounging room with Fatboy beanbags and a sofa bed if required for extra sleeping space. There are wardrobes in both the double and twin areas with hanging space and shelves. All bed linen is included in the price, so all you need to bring are towels. Each dome shares its raised, decked base with a covered, fully kitted-out, fresh air kitchen and relaxing dining area for a family of 6, boasting a state-of-the-art ‘plancha’ gas cooker, fridge and microwave. It has it’s own two-person Fatboy hammock too.
The very nature of the temporary structures means no en-suite. The toilets are only a short walk away, in fully- lit blocks, along with the showers, dishwashing sinks and drinking water.

Glisten at Col d’Ibardin
Glisten operates at carefully chosen campsites in southern France and Col d’Ibardin was their first location - a lovely spacious site, in perfect harmony with nature. Selected as much for its atmosphere as for it’s amenities, the campsite is just outside the town of Urrugne, north of the Spanish border and inland from the seaside town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Closest airport is Biarritz. Campers will have the option of hanging around the swimming pools (for kids and adults) and utilising the kids clubs or heading out for a day trip to the beach.
Voted as one the best places for food and drink Sans Sebastian is truly a great city for foodies and families. Nothing beats a stroll a long La Concha beach and then head in to the old town for pintxos (Basques version of Tapas). And the good thing is it's only 20 mins from Col d'Ibardin campsite. St Jean De Luz is highly priased at being a top family resort. Very picturesque, excellent restaurants and bars, plus a sweeping bay which is family friendly but with surfing beaches on the other side. And a kids club operates on the beach in peak season - result! All family members whatever age are bound to give this place the big thumbs up!
