Little White Alice

Child friendly farm, Cornwall – Little White Alice, Carnmenellis, Cornwall

About Little White Alice

A truly inspirational eco-holiday with absolutely no compromise in comfort or standards - it's a fabulous place.

Little White Alice is your opportunity to sample a truly gorgeous Cornish eco-retreat. The two gloriously tasteful and award winning eco-luxury self-catering cottages, along with two Eco Arks, are set high up in the ancient landscape of Carnmenellis. Not only a haven for wild-life, Little White Alice is a 29 acre get-away haven for us all - the Wild Spa area a wonderful addition.  This is a very laid back place - their motto: relax, unwind, leave the rat race behind and let your kids run free in this safe and natural environment. You will - and you will want to go back…

Little White Alice's luxurious eco-cottages are simply beautiful and combine contemporary and relaxed design perfectly. Exquisitely detailed and extremely tasteful the cottages provide a fine way to explore the heart of Cornwall and the stunning north and south coasts, given that either are just 10 miles away.

Accommodation

The individual cottages are named after trees from the Celtic Tree Calendar: Nion, the Ash House sleeps 4 with a king-size en-suite bedroom, a super-king or twin room, a bathroom and open-plan living spcae downstairs.  Fearn, the Alder House, sleeps 2 with a young child with a double bed, fabulous wet room and open plan living space.  Fearn is built on one level and with accessibility in mind - this is ideal accommodation if friends or grandparents want to join you but prefer the option to relax in their own space.

Lounge areas are perfect for family nights in with comfy, colourful feather-filled sofas, soft rugs and cushions, flat screen TVs, DVD's, music, books and games. The under-floor heating, triple-glazed windows and wood-burning stove, with a good supply of kindling and logs, ensure the cottages will be inviting and warm even after the most bracing winter walk, or after a day at the beach.

Beds are super comfy with feather-filled pillows, cosy duvets and fine linen - perfect requisites to join the good fresh air for a sound night's sleep!  Cots, highchairs and stairgates are available on request.  Please note that cot bedding is not provided.

A vase of flowers and a welcome hamper will greet you filled with seasonal and essential wares, butter, bread and honey, milk tea and coffee - the makings of a fine and simple meal. The vegetable patch provides seasonal veg throughout the year, including salads and herbs from the solar tunnel.  You might also consider ordering your holiday groceries from the Cornish Food Market before you leave and have local food delivered, unpacked and waiting for you on arrival.

Towels and locally made toiletries are provided in all bathrooms and en-suites. Remember your towels for the beach!

The cottages share a communal laundry room housing the 'green' washing machine and drier.  Traditional clothes driers and washing lines are available too.

The Wild Spa

The Wild Spa is simply amazing. You'll find a wood burning hot tub, a wood burning sauna and what's known as the ultimate cold bucket shower!  The Sanctuary Room with decking over looking a wild life pond gives you space to recover from said shower! This is the ultimate 'green' relaxation zone and is something you will cherish!

To Do On Site

Getting out for the day may be difficult. The space outdoors - comprising 29 acres of heathland, coppiced wood and gardens - allows for long walks and the kids to explore as per those idyllic happy childhood memories when kids were free to roam. Bug Hotels, fire pits, green play area where camps may be built, the climbing frame and wild woods are the perfect lure to get the kids out and about exloring this fabulous landscape filled with adventures just waiting to happen.

There's a myriad of friendly animals that you are welcome to join Rosie with to feed and pet, including the shetland ponies Tango and Zennor that love being groomed and are happy to be taken around the fields on a lead rein. You are also welcome to meet the pigs, alpacas and sheep - the chickens obligingly produce eggs to collect which is always a fun start to the day.

A Dark Skies Kit, Bird Watching kit, Nature Dairy and Picnic Kit are available for the children to offer a more structured learnign experience for kids to explore their surroundings.  On site there are also Art and Craft Activities in The Studio for families, as well as kid only and adult only activities.

Out & about

Rosie has teamed up with other activity providers so that you have a host of choices including canoeing, outdoor adventure playgrounds, zip-wires, surfing, cycling and nature workshops - there's something for every type of day and every level of energy!

In fact you have direct access to miles of footpaths and cycle trails. Near by Stithians Lake provides water-sports activities, beaches are easily reached should you want a sea-side and sand day. The bustling and interesting town of St Ives with The Tate and galleries, fine restaurants and shops makes for a good day mooching. And of course there are many gorgeous gardens to visit, quaint villages and towns as well as days out attractions for the kids.

Should you wish to have a night alone a baby-sitter can be arranged - speak with Rosie in advance to arrange.

Green Policy Loveliness

As part of their green policy Rosie and Simon invite you to plant a tree at Little White Alice to offset your journey and your general carbon footprint. You may chose from a range of trees from their own nursery during the winter months or if you are visiting in the summer they will plant the tree of your house for you in the new woodland during the planting season.

Dogs are allowed in both cottages.
