Set on a nature reserve with lakes and woodland, Silverlake in Dorset comprises privately owned properties that provide a luxurious base from which to explore the Jurassic coast, as well as fantastic facilities on-site. From toddlers to teenagers, babies to big people everyone is welcome and will have a memorable family holiday. All of the properties are fab, so whether it’s a bright bijou apartment with a terrace, or an avant-garde minimalistic house for 12 you’ll be living in style for your stay.

The spa is a perfect place to unwind, and soak up the views from the outdoor heated pool. And with the outdoors on your doorstep, as well as bike and canoe hire on-site you can start having walking, cycling and boating adventures as soon as you arrive. Whatever the season wildlife lover’s will be in their element spotting Dartmoor ponies, rare butterflies, deer and migrating birds. Outdoor play spaces are perfect for children to run free, climb, slide and zip through the trees whilst you take a refreshing dip in the Eco-pool.

The Properties

All of the properties have been architecturally designed and provide unique, bright and welcoming bases for your holiday. Each has outdoor space and some larger properties have log-burners, DVD players and BBQs - some even have little extras such as pizza ovens, hammocks and private ponds!

The following 3 properties are particularly toddler friendly and come with travel stair gates (where applicable), a selection of books, DVDs (where applicable), toys, children’s crockery, baby bath, and fire guards:

Beaumont Village 4, sleeps 9 in 4 bedrooms.

Tally Ho, sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms.

South View, sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms.

All properties have cots and highchairs and plenty of space for the whole family to relax, and pets are welcome in a selection of the houses too.

Kids and Parents

Silverlake has activities and facilities for all the family. The Hurricane spa has a heated outdoor pool, gym, sauna, library, treatment rooms and a lounge for relaxing “me time”. Towels are provided and you can purchase drinks to take out onto the roof terrace. Next door you’ll find the tennis court and MUGA.

The Activity Hub provides equipment hire, instruction and local information for those that want to get out and about. The Island has a wooden adventure playground perfect for climbing, as well as swings and a zip wire. Brave the eco-pool for a refreshing dip, or just sit back with a book whilst the kids explore.

As well as the wonderful facilities there are lots of additional activities to enjoy. Take tennis rackets, footballs and whatever else you can fit in your cases to make use of the tennis courts and multi-use games area. If you want to start your adventures as soon as you arrive then pre-book your bikes and/or canoes so they’re waiting for you at your house.

Celebrating something special? Book onto the sailing experience that take you along the beautiful Jurassic Coast. Add a seafood hamper and bottle of fizz to really celebrate in style.

If you feel the need to explore beyond Silverlake, Dorset and the Jurassic coast has oodles of options for family fun.   Poole is only 30 minutes away and is the epitome of harbourside chic, with plenty of bars, restaurants as well as an arts centre and ferry trips.

One of Dorset’s most iconic landmarks Durdle Door is well worth a visit for its natural limestone arch and beautiful beach. Fans of the TV show Monkey Life will have a memorable day out at the ape rescue centre Monkey World.  Take a trip down memory lane with a steam train ride on the Swanage Railway, you can even book onto a driver taster experience.  And for those with thrill-seeking younger children Adventure Wonderland in Bournemouth has rides, a petting farm, pony rides and the largest natural hedge maze on the south coast.

Food and Drink

The kitchens in all properties are superbly equipped for self-catering. Food hampers and BBQ packs can be pre-ordered. If you’re staying in Beaumont village there is a communal BBQ and fire-pit on the village green.

Wonderful family holidays for both adventurers and those looking to relax.
