The Swan Hotel & Spa is a fabulous child friendly hotel in the Lake District that is just too gorgeous for words. Until you step foot inside the elegant foyer can you truly appreciate what a fantastic gem this place is for families. The stunning interiors, public areas, restaurants and bedrooms are all strikingly beautiful; decked out in elegant Designer's Guild wallpaper creating a look that is both modern, inviting and relaxing.
Stunning Riverside Location
Perched on an idyllic spot The Swan Hotel & Spa in Newby Bridge is set in 14 acres on the banks of The River Leven at the Southern Tip of Lake Windermere. Its fantastic riverside location with outdoor seating is the ideal spot to take in the glorious surroundings by the River Leven and little ones will enjoy the simple pleasure of feeding the ducks. The 52-room Lakeside getaway was devastated by the 2009 Cumbrian floods, leaving its ground floor submerged beneath two feet of water. But, after six months of closing and a £4 million refurbishment, the Swan Hotel reopened its doors in May 2010 with stunning results.
There are tow family suites available The Potter Suite and The Beatrix each have two interconnecting rooms, a shared bathroom and all the features you would expect for a luxury stay; crunchy duvet in Egyptian white cotton, ESPA bath products, a choice of in-room movies, Wi-Fi and a Playstation 3 for the kids (or maybe dad!). And of course, not forgetting those beautiful views of the river or woodland fells.
Child Friendly Hotel
Staying at the Swan Hotel means the children are warmly welcomed, with their needs being rated just as highly as the adults. Friendly, knowledgeable staff are on hand for any queries or information on family days out. However, there is plenty at the hotel to keep everyone occupied. Within the grounds of the hotel there is a nature trail together with quality outdoor play equipment whilst indoors there is the heated swimming pool with no time restrictions on when families can use it during the day and adult only swimming every evening from 7pm. Of the many chill out areas and lounges dotted around the ground floor, families with young kids will be drawn to the library room - a relaxing den where all ages can be entertained with a variety of books and games.
For frazzled parents the ultimate time out...
For adults wanting to indulge in some "me-time" to recharge those batteries, the Spa is just perfect for de-stressing frazzled parents. With treatments ranging from hot stone body massages, facials and mud wraps you can be assured of leaving in more of a relaxed state than arriving. For those who wish to be more energetic then enjoy a dip in the swimming pool, relax in the Jacuzzi, sauna or steam room or burn off some calories in the fully equipped Gym.
Child Friendly Restaurants
The food served at the Swan is a real treat to enjoy. Begin the day with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast including local produce smoked bacon and free range sausage cooked to order and delivered fresh to your table. Dining options are in the pub or in the River Room and the menu offers everything from fisherman's platter, salads and a sinful selection of homemade puddings to modern English cuisine using the finest Cumbrian produce. The children's menu features high quality homemade food and delicious local ice cream made from milk produced at a nearby organic farm.
