About The Athenaeum Hotel and Family Apartments
The Athenaeum not only has style and artistic flair, it is also renowned as a trend-setter in family travel — it was the first deluxe property in London with a dedicated children’s program, the first to allow children to eat for free and the first hotel in London with a dedicated concierge service team for young travellers. As the General Manager states: "We understand that when kids are happy, their parents are more likely to relax and thoroughly enjoy their stay with us. And, with the added benefit of staying in the Apartments at The Athenaeum, traveling as a family has never been so pleasurable and easy.” The Athenaeum offers the best fo both worlds, sumputous luxury family hotels and sumpuous child friendly apartments where you can rustle up a snack at your convenience; in either you are guaranteed a fabulous family stay.
The fabulous 5 Star Athenaeum is not only a child friendly hotel it's a genuine home from home - right in the hub of London. As one of the area's few family-owned hotels the atmosphere is truly friendly. Overlooking leafy Green Park, it's the shortest of strolls to Buckingham Palace, the chic-est shops, biggest galleries and museums and West End theatres.
Already renowned for it's outstanding, discreet service the Athenaeum was the first London hotel to provide children with their very own Concierge. Nothing is too much trouble; staff do their utmost to help you feel completely at home and find your way around this fantastic historic city.
With a choice of 157 stunning bedrooms, suites and apartments all rooms have loads of lovely natural light, some with stunning Mayfair views; most Parkview rooms also have Juliet balconies. The huge apartments are all individually decorated and have their own private entrance onto a Mayfair Street. As standard in your bedroom there's a Bose docking station for your iPod or MP3 player so you can relax listening to your own music, large plasma screen TV with multiple channels and pay per view films, stunning marble bathroom, Nespresso coffee machine, mini bar soft drinks and snacks on the house. The heavenly beds are reputed to be the best in the world and there's even a Pillow Menu to help you get the best night's sleep.
Dining is all day in the Restaurant, where the surroundings are as gorgeous as the food. The menu is contemporary English with daily "Best of British" specials - and if you can't see your favourite, they'll cook it up for you. Don't miss the exquisite award-winning Afternoon Tea in the verdant Garden Room. Enjoy your favourite tipple plus light snacks in their cocoon-like Whisky Bar.
Downstairs there's a small, luxurious Spa with everything you need to feel and look fit and gorgeous: Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Sauna, Gym with all the usual equipment plus a vibrating Powerplate (no extra charge), Hair and pampering Beauty Salons too. Outside, make the most of the three surrounding Royal Parks - you can borrow bikes, kites, jogging maps and birdseed. They'll even pack you the ultimate English bubbly picnic!
The look and feel of The Athenaeum is creative, contemporary and English, with Club chairs decorated in gentlemen's tweed... thousands of shimmering pearly buttons... framed mini London taxis... at every turn there's something beautiful and intriguing to attract your attention including numerous pieces of original art - you could write your own treasure hunt based on those dotted around the hotel! Even on the outside, there's a colossal, magical Vertical Garden all the way up the side of the hotel. It was designed by international star Patrick Blanc - his first Living Wall in the UK.
And then there's the Kids - the Athenaeum's concierge team have developed a special program designed to help them get to know your children before your family sets foot in the hotel's lobby. Decadently your child's favorite drink, snack, magazines and music will be awaiting their arrival. Special dietary requirements will also be noted. A bespoke itinerary can be created ensuring your family makes the most of their stay in London. The same team will happily greet your family upon arrival and ask whether they would like to fly a kite, ride a bike or feed the birds in Green Park.
However, The Athenaeum hasn't forgotten Mom's and Dad's needs. The same team can arrange a chauffeur to meet you at the airport, get tickets to the hottest shows or reservations at a special restaurant, or arrange a qualified sitter so that you and your spouse can have a romantic evening sans kids. Basically, whatever you needs are....you only have to ask.
The Athenaeum provides families with children from newborn to two years of age a supply of "baby basics": disposable diapers, bottle sterilizer and baby wipes, as well as organic baby food - which, to ensure freshness, can be bought on demand. To stimulate the little gray cells, Baby Einstein DVDs are available from the complimentary lending library.
Guests aged two through ten will receive a toy box filled with age- and gender-appropriate children's toys and games to play with while on-property. A complimentary DVD lending library is also available, featuring the latest in children's titles. In the evenings, cookies and milk are included with turndown service, and children's sized robes, slippers and hangers are provided. And, as always, all soft drinks and snacks from the mini-bar are complimentary.
