About The Ellingham Cottages

Home-from-home 4* cottages set in the peaceful surroundings of sunny rural Guernsey, yet only 2 miles from St Peter Port.  Explore stunning coastline, indulge in delicious local food, and kick back in your gorgeous accommodation. With a large garden and excellent facilities, a stay at The Ellingham allows you and your family to holiday at your own pace, doing as much or as little as you like.

Set in peaceful countryside and yet just 10 minutes walk from the nearest sandy beach and cafe, The Ellingham is a great base to explore the very special 24 square miles of Guernsey. Walk from your cottage along cliff paths, down to secluded bays, or perhaps take part in some watersports. A multitude of shops, restaurants and local amenities are all within easy walking distance.

Accommodation options

All of the properties come with luxury bed linen, complimentary toiletries, soft towels and bathrobes. Comfortable living rooms have TVs with free-sat channels and a DVD player, and kitchens are fully-equipped with a full size fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, oven/hob and all the equipment you might need.

2 bedroom cottages (sleep 4 plus cot)

10 cottages with master bedroom, twin bedroom , fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom (with bath or shower) and living room.  Enjoy eating al-fresco in your own outdoor space and make the most of this famously warm and sunny island.

One cottage is on the ground-floor and suitable for guests with mobility issues, and also perfect for families with children, with a large decked area overlooking the garden.

3 bedroom apartment (sleeps 6 plus cot)

A spacious 1st floor apartment with open plan kitchen and living room. The master (king) bedroom overlooks the communal garden and the 2 further bedrooms are set up as twins. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower and there is a separate cloakroom. NB there is no private outdoor space with the apartment but you are close to the main, large garden.

3 bedroom cottage (sleeps 6 plus cot)

A beautifully bright and large cottage, perfect for families, with a spacious living room and fully equipped kitchen.  Upstairs a super-king sized bed and en-suite with corner bath can be found in the master bedroom, with a further king-sized room and a twin room. The family bathroom has a large shower.

Food options

Complimentary welcome packs are provided at the start of your stay so you can have a snack on arrival. Throughout your stay you can take advantage of the on-site Hedge Veg stall honesty box for some super fresh produce.

If you want to eat out you’ll find both a pub and a restaurant within 5 minutes walk of your accommodation, plus many more options still within 15 minutes stroll.

Facilities

Just about everything you could think of to make you and your children comfortable is available at The Ellingham. For the youngest you can request cots, highchairs, stair gates and safety packs. Tots will love the toys, games, wendy house and large garden to run around in. Books, DVDs, wifi and games are on-hand alongside complimentary wifi to keep older children entertained.

For an extra charge you can hire bikes and have them delivered to The Ellingham, or book the family babysitter for some grown-up time.

Household supplies are provided in each of the properties, as are towels and luxury bed linen. A mid-week housekeeping “spruce” is also included in your stay. On-site you’ll find a well stocked guest library and large outdoor space to play, relax and eat, with BBQs available to borrow.

    The nearest beach is only 12 minutes walk away and an absolute stunner! The Tea Room has views across the south coast cliffs.

    This 800 year old castle is fascinating to walk around. Explore five museums and four period gardens. As well as daily guided tours and the firing of the noon-day gun by scarlet clad gunners, Castle Cornet also hosts events and activities.

  • Little Chapel

    Possibly the smallest chapel in the world - and a chapel like no other. Wholly decorated with broken china, pebbles and coloured glass, this rainbow chapel with it's tiny dimensions (although big enough to go inside) will delight small visitors).

  • Cobo Bay

    This large sandy beach is on the west coast of the island. It is a long expanse of fine sand and is a great place to spend the whole day as are some shops (great for beach toys), plus some fab places to eat.

  • Portelet Bay

    This sandy beach at the end of Rocquaine Bay has a small working fishing harbour. There are different things to do depending on where the tide is – jumping off the old jetty wall into the sea is popular with the older children. There are also plenty of rock pools for crabbing and clambering over. The stunning Pleinmont walk starts from this point, with the ‘Fairy Ring’ being only a short walk up the hill from the beach.

  • Petit Bot Bay

    Children love exploring the rock pools here and playing ball on the wide sandy stretch. Sheltered by the surrounding cliffs and overlooked by a Martello Tower, not only is Petit Bot is beautiful, but also amazing for swimming and kayaking.

  • Saumarez Park

    This is a lovely park, with different areas to visit, including the large duck pond, a good children’s playground, large open grass lawns, the Victorian walled kitchen garden, a café (with bouncy castle outside) and a path around the perimeter great for cycling, scootering or pushing a buggy. There is also a nice nature trail from the back car park, which leads down to Cobo bay.

  • Cambridge Park & Skatepark

    Adjacent to Beau Sejour Leisure Centre – it offers wide-open space with several playing fields, outdoor children’s play grounds and a skate park. The skatepark is of the latest design and one of the UK’s largest. It incorporates a multi bowl area, street course, mini ramp, grind rails and many technical features

  • Wild Food Foraging

    There is a two-hour family-orientated workshop, which looks at fire starting, cooking outside and foraging/eating wild food. Activities include wild food foraging, both inland and on the seashore, exploring with snorkels, swimming in beautiful places. Bushcraft workshops include learning fire by friction and crafting wooden spoons.

    Located at Vazon Bay, Guernsey Surf School offers a great range of lessons, courses, and programmes to suit all ages and abilities. Learn and have fun at this International Surf Association approved school. Family lessons, 1:1 lessons, teen camp, day and half-day courses available.
