About Ballantrae Holiday Cottages
Have a look at these wonderful child-friendly cotages in Scotland - the more I look, the more I need to book us a week next Summer - perfect escapism with gentle things for the kids to do for a chilled out family tholiday.
Ballantrae Holiday Cottages comprises seven luxury child-friendly holiday cottages, sleeping from two to ten people. Found in the friendly village of Ballantrae in South Ayrshire, south-west Scotland, you may choose from the three stone and whitewashed eco-friendly beach cottages situated right on the sea front with wonderful views out to sea, or four riverside cottages on a quiet country lane that winds along the River Stinchar.
Ballantrae enviously enjoys a maritime climate of early Springs and mild Autumns. Thus you can hike, relax and enjoy the many activities to be found in this wonderfully unspoilt coastal across the seasons, as well as of course cosy-ing up through the winter enjoying the scenes with a hot chocolate and a bobbly hat on!
Worthy of note is that the cottages are all situated just off the Ayrshire Coastal Path, Scotland's long distance walking route along one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. The cottages are close to marked river, woodland, seaside and farm walks so adventuring families are in for a real treat.
The coastline is crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of Ailsa Craig and the mountains of Arran (worth a day trip across the Firth of Clyde if the children like ferries which mine do!). The area is rich historically with wildlife in abundance, including red squirrels, roe deer, otters and seals – bird-spotters take binoculars and head for the moors and estuary.
Ballantrae and all it has to offer means that you can choose to be as busy or as relaxed as you wish through your family holiday – grab a back-pack and choose from the many walks, take to the beach and play in the surf or simply find a spot and chill without an agenda – just arrive, be charmed and decide on the day – that’s my idea of holiday heaven.
