The BridgeHouse is a small hotel off the beaten track. It's 13 bedrooms, all en-suite, offer superb holiday accommodation in a most beautiful part of Dorset. This historic building has been transformed into a contemporary haven offering a relaxing environment to enjoy this family hotels warmth, charm and character.
The owners, Mark and Jo, have a young son and have drawn on their own personal experiences of hotel stays to make the BridgeHouse as pleasant a stay for parents travelling with young children, as possible.
Families can stay in one of the two family rooms which are perfect for two adults and two children as it comprises of two separate bedrooms - a double with two adjoining singles, all sharing the same bathroom. Alternatively several of the bedrooms are large enough to take cots or Z-beds which come with appropriate bedding. All have the finest Egyptian cotton linen as well as waffle guest robes, Molton Brown toiletries, flat screen TVs, wi-fi, digital telephones, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers.
A handy supply of baby equipment, including a baby changing mat, bath seat and back pack, that can be pre-requested means there is no excuse to overload the car. A really thoughtful touch is the bottle sterilising service offered - simply leave your ‘used' bottles in the basket provided and they will be returned, ready for use, within a couple of hours. In the lounge there is a box of toys and books to keep children occupied whilst you can enjoy a coffee. Or if you fancy an early evening tipple, why not treat yourself to a well deserved cocktail whilst the children can run around the safe environment of the enclosed garden. A supply of children's outdoor toys is readily available to borrow and a soon to be installed trampoline will help children burn off any surplus energy at the end of the day.
Food & Drink
Evening meals are a flexible affair to suit the individual needs of a family. Parents can take advantage of feeding the children at the earlier set time in the informal surroundings of the Sun Room where vegetable purees can be easily arranged for baby. This is so adults can truly enjoy a relaxed dinner later with the help of either the baby monitors (which work throughout the hotel) or the team of responsible staff who are available to babysit. Alternatively well-behaved children are welcome to join their parents in the conservatory for a special family meal. The Beaminster Brasserie restaurant has a well earned reputation for its high standards in locally sourced food and alfresco dining. Expect dining here to be an absolute pleasure and one to be savoured.
Beaches, fossil hunting and a few fun venues such as the Abbotsbury Childrens Farm, Farmer Palmers and even Bridport market with its old toy stalls, make this part of Dorset great for kids. For a fun day at the beach, the hotel has a handy supply of buckets, spades and fishing nets.
Mark and Jo have created a wonderful relaxing environment in which families can enjoy good times together. All the added little extras mount up to make your stay a memorable one.
