About Casa San Gabriel in Umbria
Casa San Gabriel comprises three stunning farmhouses, set in the hills overlooking a beautiful Umbrian Valley, with uninterrupted views as far as Assisi. The farmhouses date back to the 16th Century and have been lovingly restored by the present owners, Chrissie and David, who live here with their two daughters, their two friendly resident dogs (who love being taken on walks by guests) and a small herd of alpacas. Original features remain within your charming holiday cottage, though they are now combined with chic interiors and modern comforts, including central heating to keep you cosy throughout the year. With a lovely outdoor play area and the fabulous pool, families with younger children are absolutely taken care of - those with older kids will also enjoy the pool, perhaps the serenity and space, most certainly the wi-fi!
Set in its own three wonderful acres and surrounded by woodland and olive groves, Casa San Gabriel is the perfect place to unwind in peace and tranquility with your family.
The three farmhouses in total accommodate ten people and are great for a group wanting a little independence. All three cottages have lovingly been restored using all original and local materials, including chestnut beams and terracotta tiles, and furnished to the highest standard.
La Cantina sleeps four, Il Fienile sleeps 6 with a sofa bed, whilst La Stalla sleeps two. Each farmhouse has its own private terrace, a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting/dining room, bathroom with shower, central heating and wifi. Stair gates, cots and high-chairs are available on request.
Il Fienile is perfect for families with the lower level consisting of a twin bunk bed room, with independent shower and bath room, living/dinning area with double sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen and above is a mezzanine level double bedroom with either twin or a double bed. The main room leads onto a secluded terrace ensuring privacy but benefiting from beautiful views of the valley.
La Cantina is suitable for a couple or a small family over two levels. The lower level consists of a fully equipped kitchen and sitting/dinning area with a double sofa bed (orthopaedic) and leads onto a private terrace. Glass enclosed, original external stairs take you to the top level, with a landing that leads onto a double bedroom and a separate bathroom with shower.
La Stalla is a studio apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, living area and bathroom with shower and sleeps two people with plenty of space for a cot. The views from the original stable window and the private terrace are quite spectacular and ensures La Stalla provides a very romantic setting for any couple enjoying their first family break abroad - it's also perfect for grandparents or friends who'd like to join you but who'd like their own space.
Children and adults alike can take advantage of the 14.5m x 4.5m swimming pool shared across the farmhouses, situated on a terrace and overlooking the valley. There are sun-beds and umbrellas to shade from the afternoon sun, but with the elevated position of the pool there is also a welcome breeze - it is THE perfect place to enjoy a cold glass of local wine, watching the evening sun set across the mountains.
In addition to the pool, Casa San Gabriel has three friendly alpacas and guests are more than welcome to visit and feed them. The playground is the perfect spot for little ones with a swing, slide, sand pit, a playhouse and many toys to kep them occupied. A well stocked library of books, guidebooks and DVD's are available to borrow too.
You are able to make your own delicious pizzas in the wood-burning pizza oven - you're able to use vegetables and herbs from the garden too, zero food miles there!
The communal laundry is for all guests to use with a small fee per load to cover costs of powder etc.
