About Middle Stone Farm Holiday Cottages
Simple and unpretentious holiday accommodation with a mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings perfect for family living.
Middle Stone Farm is an eco-friendly working farm and a great place for families to unwind and connect with nature. Surrounded by rolling hills and farmland bordering Exmoor, it is a blissful rural retreat. The farm has two holiday cottages designed with children in mind and three safari tents nestled within its 32 acres of grounds. Young children can help with animal feeding and enjoy trailer rides around the field during the holiday season. There is a small on-site shop, open in high season, selling farm produce, local beers, artisan bread, fine wines and foods. Come and meet the animals, laze around reading a book in a hammock, chase around the field or simply use the farm as a base to explore beautiful Exmoor, the Quantocks and the North Devon coast.
Middle Stone Farm is home to a veritable menagerie of animals; with a flock of free range chickens, geese, alpaca, sheep, goats, usually some pigs, a dog and a tortoise there is always something going on the farm! There is a little children's playground on the farm for youngsters to swing, climb and be the master of the lookout tower.
The Deckhouse - 2 bed wooden cabin
The Deckhouse is a quaint two bedroom holiday home with whitewashed panelled walls and a full width outdoor porch. With views overlooking the farmland, you'll be forgiven if you think it's not too dissimilar from the 'Little House on the Prairie'. It has a relaxed ambiance, with stripped wooden floors, soft and cosy furnishings with a pop of colour to inject warmth and personality. There is a mixture of old and new, with lots of bits and bobs adding to the homely charm. High, beamed ceilings make the open plan living area feel spacious and airy while a large wood burning stove keeps the whole place toasty and warm whatever the season. In one corner of the living area is a two-seater sofa, flatscreen TV, while the other half of the room comprises a central dining table and fitted kitchen. The Deckhouse is all one level and has a bedroom at either end, plus a shower room/wc. One bedroom has a king-size bed and space for a travel cot, which can be provided. The second has bespoke bunk beds which are have been designed specifically for children.
The Deckhouse is located on the far side of the farm, away from the field with the glamping tents, so you are assured of your own privacy. All the better to enjoy the fabulous and decadent Swedish hot tub; heated by a wood burner it does require a good 3-4 hours to get the water to a suitable temperature.
The Cottage - 2 bed holiday home
The Cottage was originally a stable, adjacent to the farmhouse, that has been lovingly converted into a two bedroom holiday home for a family of four plus a baby. It is a ground level holiday home with a feature high beamed ceiling and flagstone floors. The decor is kept simple and unpretentious with a mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings perfect for family living. Comfy sofas, colourful rugs and ceramics are set against the white walls, slate floor and beams of the open-plan living space. The cottage has a TV/DVD and Wifi. There’s a wood-burning stove for chillier days while the kitchen area is fitted with all the mod cons. The bedrooms are light and uncluttered, with brass bedsteads and homely, colourful quilts; the shower room is spacious and brightly-tiled. Outside the cottage there’s a raised patio with a table and barbeque to enjoy those views around the farm. Four legged friends are now welcome in the holiday cottage, but must be kept on a lead due to the other animals at Middle Stone.
