About Pitchperfect Camping
Pitchperfect provides for a truly child friendly camping holiday in the UK and is the brainchild of Emma and James - who bought a field. They then figured how best to make a campsite environment chilled out enough for parents to arrive and relax, and keep the kids happily entertained and busy (and so end up shattered and sleep!) and they opened their site in July 2013. And because it does all of the things that families (we) love to enjoy when camping – think spacious pitches, campfires (courtesy of firepits), a strumming guitar (you must know someone) and a chilled beer – with lots of child friendly things to do I’m spilling the beans on this place.
Pitchperfect is a canvas only site – comprising some 42 pitches scattered around the edges of a field that backs onto meadows with horses grazing in them – I know it sounds like a film set! The tents pretty much surround the kids play area – this is family camping at it’s easiest. Just let them all run into the middle and keep an eye out.
Camp-fires are allowed in the form of firepits which may be hired and are supplied with firelighters, kindling and logs – as well as marshmallows and skewers – heaven.
The site has six hot showers with plenty of hot water, five men’s toilets, 7 women’s toilets and a family shower room with a baby bath and a changing table. Potties and children's toilet seats are available in the men's and women's toilet. Hair-dryers are available for those that can’t live without one.
Kitchen wise there are sinks, two fridge freezers, a kettle, microwave (heated bottles in the night are possible!), a washing machine and a tumble dryer if it all goes wrong.
The onsite shop is stocked with camping essentials as well as locally produced beer and cider. Wine is available too. A book swap is on site so if you’ve just finished one you can recycle.
For the kids
They can boing to their heart’s content on the trampoline, go on a sea-faring journey on the pirate ship, swing to the sky, roam the fields on an adventure or play farmers on the tractors. Animals are around too – and we all know that kids love animals – yours may pet the pony, admire the horses, find the chickens and possibly eggs (they are free-range) or find a gosling perhaps amongst the ducks.
Pitchperfect is just 10 minutes away from Longleat the adventure park and stunning stately home, and Emma has arranged for a 35% discount on the single day tickets. The lovely city of Bath is an easy day out as is Frome one of the prettiest towns in Somerset.
For cultural excursions Nunney Castle, Stonehenge and Wardour Castle are within striking distance, otherwise, you know what you’re on holiday – sit back and relax and just enjoy being here – life is too short to be racing around all the time trying to do!
