About Secret Valley

Secret Valley is nestled in the idyllic surroundings of the Quantock Hills in Somerset. Let the kids wander around the organic farm visiting the animals; have a stroll through the vineyards or climb trees at the outdoor activity centre.

There is a variety of accommodation from lodges, tipis, yurts, belle tents and wig-wams with wood fired hot-tubs, thoughtfully spread out around the farm. There is even a big yurt accomodating up to 20 people for families wanting to stay together.

Secret Valley is the perfect environment for you to relax with plenty of space for the kids to play. If you’re looking for an activity filled holiday try fishing on the lake, archery tag, walking/biking or book onto some adrenaline fuelled activities at Black Rock Outdoor Activity Centre. Find out about the farms different enterprises on Farmer Johns Farm Tour suitable for the whole family with games for children and wine tasting (the fruits of Secret Valleys own vineyards!) for the adults. After a fun filled day the whole family can gather around the fire pit and enjoy alfresco dining.

Sit back, put your feet up, pour a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the rolling hills.

General Information

Once you've arrived and set up camp (or glamp!), a member of the Hardwick family will be over to see you on their buggy to make sure you are settled in and to answer any questions you may have. Stocked with marshmallows, coal, cider, fire wood and wine produced at Secret Valley for you to purchase, they want to ensure your stay with them is as wonderful as possible.

Whether you choose to stay in a lodge, belle tent, tipi or yurt, there are amenities a short stroll away for all guests to use and meet new friends. The kids love the games room with two pool tables and table football and riding on the mini tractors in the play barn. The two large kitchen/dining areas are equipped with everything you need and a place to meet other guests.

Lodges

Perfect for familes, there are 3 lodges situated in an idyllic location with fantastic views of the farm and close to all the amenities. Sleeping up to 5 people, with beds that convert into seating during the day, lighting, heating, electricity, a kettle, fridge and microwave provides all the luxuries of Glamping.

Each lodge has its own picnic table and firepit for alfesco dining and beautiful for sitting out in the evening watching the sun go down.

Tipis

The Tipi is situated by a beautiful old oak tree. It is a traditional nomadic dwelling built using wood and canvas, fully waterproof it is suitable for use in all weather conditions. 21ft in circumference, sleeping up to five people on single futons, it is great for families or small groups.

The interior is beautifully furnished with rugs and candle lanterns creating an authentic and relaxing space for you to relax. Outside is a picnic table to enjoy alfresco dinners cooked on your bbq come fire pit, which will provide warmth to sit and star gaze well into the night. Designed for people looking to get away from it all and have a more rustic experience, there is no electricity supply in the tipi. However, the communal kitchen/dining area is a short walk away along with the showers/toilet block.

Yurts

The yurt camp is set in a hidden corner of a paddock by a beautiful old oak tree. There are two sizes of yurts, although we recommend the larger size for a family.

Yurts are the traditional portable home of the Nomadic Mongolian people. Made here in the U.K, a cone shaped canvas is laced onto a wooden lattice frame sourced from renewable woodlands, to create a magical authentic environment to experience the harmony of round living.

Cook in the communal kitchen (less than 5 minutes walk away), or on your own private fire pit outside your Belle Tent.

Belle Tents

There are three Lotus Belle Tents, set in a quiet paddock in Secret Valley enjoying beautiful countryside views. These really are quirky places to glamp.

Ideal for families of 4, each Lotus Belle Tent comes with comfortable, single futon style beds.

Cook in the communal kitchen (less than 5 minutes walk away), or on your own private fire pit outside your Belle Tent.

Group Glamping

An amazing, huge 32 foot yurt, sleeping 20 people, ideal for those families wishing to camp together. The yurt is in a secluded part of the farm, ensuring your privacy.

Cook al fresco on the firepit/BBQ - an amazing place for everyone to gather around, keep warm or even toast marshmallows in the evening.

Whilst there is no electricity, the yurt is less than 5 minutes walk away from the communal kitchen/dining area and toilet/shower block.

Activites

Farmer Johns Tours

  • The whole family can enjoy a tour of Secret Valley on Farmer Johns tractor, enjoying games, surprises and wine tasting along the way.

Black Rock Outdoors

  • For the more adventurous guests, enjoy the following activites at the activity centre from High Ropes, Raft Building, Mountain Boarding Water Zorbing, Kayaking to CanoeingTag Archery

Archery Tag

  • Archery Tag is a family friendly combat sport where players are divided into two teams, combining the principles of paint balling and archery. Opponents shoot foam tipped arrows at each other in varying game formats. Unlike paint balling, archery tag is intense enough for thrill seekers and safe enough for children (10+ years).

Fishing

  • Enjoy a spot of fishing (and peace) at Secret Valleys own fishing lake.

Theres also a Play Barn, games Room, Boules Pitch Skittles Alley, table tennis & Croquet - so plenty to keep everyone entertained!

General Information

Please bring your own bed linen/sleeping bags, pillows, towels, cutlery, crockery.

Don’t forget a torch!

There are also wig-wams (some with their own private hot-tub) and Shepherds Huts which are adult only.
