About The Hinckley Island Hotel

Extremely easy to get to, the 4* The Hinckley Island Hotel is a great destination for a short break. There’s loads to do in the local area including Drayton Manor Park and the hotel's facilities including children's menu's, leisure faciliities and 135 spacious family rooms make it a great location for kids.

You will receive a genuinely warm welcome from the staff at The Hinckley Island Hotel - they are ready and waiting for families!  After a stressful drive it's lovely to get out of the car and have such a friendly greeting at the front desk.  However the excellent service had already begun with my initial telephone call to the hotel some weeks before. I had had lots of questions about how suitable the hotel was for the children and the facilities etc. which the Receptionist answered with real patience!

The family room has two large double beds and an extra bed may be brought into the room. We are one of those increasingly more familiar families that have more than the standard two children and this is often an indication of the service that you are going to get. When you mention that you have three children, boy of 12 and two girls aged 9 & 6 you soon find out if they want to and are able to accommodate you. No such problems here.

The two large double beds were comfortable and spacious. It was possible to fit our third child's bed in the room and still be able to move! The room was bright and airy and it had everything that we needed. There were tea & coffee making facilities for that essential cup of tea in the morning before we ventured to the restaurant for breakfast.

Gladly as well, there was an en-suite bathroom that had a bath and a shower which is essential when you are trying to get five people showered! The room had wardrobes big enough for all our stuff and even somewhere to put the bags so that everything was not scattered all round the room.

The next priority for the children was food and we found both of the restaurants were more than happy to accommodate us. The Piazza Bar provided a perfect space around reception and the Triumph Bar (motorcycle themed) were both very welcoming and we all enjoyed the food. The children could choose from a specially selected Children's Menu or they could choose from the Main Menu: there are set prices for two and three courses making the menu great value for money.

Highchairs, cots and extra beds are all available if required - and for the ones that need entertaining they have kids activity kits and a games room too.

During the children's school holidays The Hickley Island offers kids workshops and cookery classes. The chef takes the children into one of the conference rooms where cookery classes are held - and all that entails! Even if you had planned to go out to one of the nearby attractions - on a rainy day this could be an excellent alternative. The children don't have to be supervised by a parent during these extra activities, so if you felt that you might like to use the gym or go for a dip in the pool - you can. Obviously parents can stay with their children too though, if they wish.

What is also really great about The Hinckley Island Hotel is that they are more than happy for the children to use the pool and gym too, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Following on from the very friendly service - if you haven't got a full itinerary before you get to The Hinckley Island Hotel you soon will have. The staff are great at coming up with places to go in the surrounding area and as the hotel's location is one its main assets it genuinely is in an ideal location. The hotel's website also has a What's On section which lists nearby attractions for you to visit and also gives information about annual events such as festivals etc. that take place throughout the year. Therefore you have plenty of reasons to visit this hotel time after time!

Look out for the Stay, Play and Explore package for £109 which includes B & B for the family and tickets for three local days out attractions - fantastic value and fantastic fun.
