While we look towards at least another month or so at home, Away with the Kids are working hard to get new holiday properties and destinations on the website; ready for an easing of travel restrictions and brighter, healthier times. Where will your family explore when exploring is back on the cards? Let us introduce Knockerdown Cottages, The Ancient Trails Company and Libbear Barton. Three fabulous choices that highlight what we all learnt in 2020 – there’s a lot of beauty and adventure to be had, right on our doorstep.
Libbear Barton joined Away with the Kids at the end of 2019, mere months before covid changed the world (and holidaying) as we know it. The gorgeous cottages are located on a 40 acre Devon estate with private gardens, outdoor play area and woodlands. When not off exploring the grounds or the Cornish and Devonshire coast, spend your time at the soft play area, games room, indoor pool or relaxing in the sauna.
Located 30 minutes inland from some gorgeous sandy beaches and famous surf spots, there are several picturesque villages to explore nearby. Nothing will cure cabin fever like a weekend of swimming, hiking, biking and indulging in new foods and culture, with Libbear Barton as your very lovely base.
A very exciting new edition to Away with the Kids comes in the form of glamping adventures with The Ancient Trails Company. Over one or two nights, you’ll walk through the best of Dorset’s countryside trails, setting up camp in magical woodlands and secluded camping spots, with all your gear kindly carried by two very friendly gyspy coblet ponies.
Ridgeway walks, sea views and deep immersion in nature will keep kids entertained throughout the days. Bird watching, stream paddling and animal tracking are all part and parcel. In the evening watch a film in the open air makeshift cinema (projector provided!) or sample some locally produced gin while the kids complete the Ancient Trails nature pack – all before settling in for a night under canvas and stars.
Knockerdown Cottages sit at the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park, making it a great option for ramblers of all ages. Brilliant views are enjoyed from walking routes that meander through the green fields, hills and valleys. They’re also enjoyed from the comfort of your own cosy stone cottage – with open plan living spaces and bright, immaculate bedrooms.
On returning from an invigorating hike or amble, take a relaxing dip in the indoor heated pool. Follow that with a delicious evening meal, a friendly family table tennis competition or burning off of that last ounce of energy at the outdoor play area. When the kids are tucked in bed, you can rest and reflect from your own terrace or the charming communal courtyard.
