Unfortunately the trails are ancient, the woodlands are wild, and therefore not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Location & local area

Where is it and how do you get there?

By road

The Ancient Trails set off from a variety of locations in Dorset, details of how to get here will be included in a welcome pack emailed upon booking.

By rail

The Ancient Trails start in rural locations so a car is recommended. But you can get to Dorset by train, and then rent a car. Bournemouth is a large train station with connections to London and from there, the rest of the UK.

December 2020

We fell in love with wild camping in Scotland – the children were so happy with time and the freedom to run and play and we loved watching them enjoy the peace and beauty of the wild countryside. This year we rediscovered our own home, Dorset, and were swept off our feet by the ridgeway walks, ancient paths, rolling fields and thatched villages ample for exploring. With our recently adopted ponies in tow, we headed out for wild camping adventures on our doorstep. The experience was so incredible, we decided to make a business of it – Ancient Trails was born!
