Drawing inspiration from a rich heritage background, this eco-cottage pays homage to its roots with original features like flagstones, a vaulted ceiling, and wooden beams that offer a comforting, rustic charm. The beating heart of Drovers Retreat is the living dining room which is brimming with character. With a warming log burner at its centre, it's the perfect place to pick a book off the bookcase, cosy down, and look out upon the green surroundings. There are three lounge chairs and a sofa, strewn with cosy throws and cushions so there’s plenty of room for all the family to relax. There’s even a flatscreen television and DVD player for those who don’t want to feel completely off-grid.
Leading off the spacious living and dining room, there is a twin bedroom and double bedroom with original features, cosy interiors, and some wonderfully framed views of the surrounding landscape. Wake up to the birds chirping and open the curtains to see the sunlight breaking through the forest - the bedrooms will make you feel like you’re in the midst of an off-grid nature retreat. The duck feather and down duvet and pillows (hypoallergenic oneas are also available) and the luxurious cotton sheets will embrace you with comfort when your feet feel tired and sleep beckons. The adjacent bathroom is part of a toilet twinning scheme that funds a community project to help families build their own toilet and is twinned with a bathroom in Uganda. Its thermostatic shower and bath are perfect for unwinding after a long day of adventure so grab a towel off the heated rack, pop the kettle on, and get toasty by the log burner.
The outdoor space at Drovers Retreat is a real treat. Set on the border of Radnor Forest and surrounded by the history-soaked land of Graig Farm, the cottage also has little pockets of private space to enjoy. There’s a fenced area with a table and chairs at the rear of the property under the canopy of surrounding woodland so you can feel at one with the forest within the comfort of Drovers Retreat. There’s also seating at the front of the cottage so you can bask in the evening sun with a drink in hand. For those rainier days, the authentic stone and timber games barn attached to the cottage serves as a wet weather refuge offering table football, snooker, darts, and ample room for fun and games.
