Top tips

Hire a fire pit and buy logs from the shop to enjoy a night under the stars toasting marshmallows.
Be sure to pack wellies and walking boots so the kids can splash in muddy puddles if the unpredictable British weather takes a turn!
There is a free car parking section which you can park your car in after unloading your equipment.

Set on four acres of fallow land between the apple and pear trees of a stunning fruit farm, Selsdon Farm campsite is just two miles from the charming inlet town of Sandwich. Offering a relaxing vibe with plenty to keep the kids entertained for a memorable stay, all you have to do is pick your spacious pitch in the flat, well-kept field and soak up the wonderful surroundings of the Kentish countryside. None of the camping pitches have an electric supply, but phones, cameras etc can be charged at the campsite shop. Come ready to unplug and unwind.

There is no compromise on comfort at Selsdon Farm. Enjoy plenty of spotless facilities including hot, powerful showers, a large, clean toilet block, pot-washing facilities, a well-stocked onsite shop, plus catering at the onsite kitchen and bar! Friendly Fallow Fields staff are on hand to make your stay as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, all you need to bring is your camping gear and this fun-filled site will take care of the rest.

Eat

Get your pots and pans at the ready for some off-grid camping cookery! Camping basics are available on site at the camp shop plus local meat and produce, fresh coffee, snacks, and ice-block freezers for refreezing blocks to keep you and your drinks nice and cool in the summer season. Think campfire nachos, one-pot pastas, and breakfast butties - embrace the chance to get creative and dine outdoors with the family.

If you fancy a night off cooking, the farm’s catering unit, The Field Kitchen serves up delicious food during busy periods, mostly Friday and Saturday nights and breakfasts on Saturday and Sundays. Pre-book to avoid disappointment. It takes the hassle out of camping so you can focus on precious family time. Tuck into wood-fired pizzas and rotisserie chicken available Friday and Saturday as well as Wednesdays and Thursdays in the school holidays or dig into a hearty breakfast at the weekend to fuel your day of fun! Be sure to end your day with a little tipple at the Gin & Fizz Bar with a range of drinks from local suppliers (parent downtime is important at Selsdon too!)

Activities

There is always lots going on at Fallow Fields so your little ones will never be bored. The retreat tent is kitted out with giant jenga, badminton, swingball and much more. There’s a table tennis table that older kids will love - borrow the bats from reception and arrange a mini tournament.

During school holidays you can expect extra activities like cinema nights, wine tasting (only for the grown ups!) and welly-wanging for all. Be sure to book the kids onto exciting activities including bushcraft sessions suitable for children over five. They can enjoy hitting the target in archery, learning how to light a fire, and giving geocaching a go! There are plenty of craft activities open to all ages at the campsite too. From woodland crafts to tie-dye t-shirts, the kids can get creative while you enjoy some much-needed downtime in the form of a yoga session. Run every Saturday morning, it’s the perfect way to practice mindfulness, breathing, and relaxation so you can destress and reset.

Fallow Fields is a great base for exploring the Kent coast. Sandwich Bay has a beautiful sandy shingle beach with ice cream vans serving up delicious treats in the summer months. Nearby Botany Bay is a good spot for fossil hunting and exploring rock pools.Local walks, nature reserves, historical attractions, and charming towns are aplenty - be sure to plan your stay so you can squeeze in all the fun!

Accessibility

The toilet block features a disabled access shower and toilet. The site is a large open grassy field, which may not be suitable for all wheelchair users.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Less than two hours from London. Use the postcode CT13 0EA which will take you to Pettet’s Nursery at the end of Drainless Road. If you are coming from the A2 (Canterbury) we are on the right-hand side before you arrive at the Nursery. If you are coming from the A299 (Sandwich) continue further down the road towards Ash and we are on the left-hand side.

By Air

Gatwick Airport and London City Airport are the closest - around 90 minutes drive. You can hire cars from both.

By Rail

The closest station is Sandwich train station which is on the mainline from London Victoria, from there a taxi should cost about £6-8.

We are a family focused campsite with lots to keep the kids busy so parents are kept happy too. We opened Fallow Fields back in 2016 and have been growing ever since. We pride ourselves on being able to make camping fun and simple. Sit back with pizza and a campfire while the kids watch a film in our safari tent.

There’s loads to do in the local area! Try the beaches at Sandwich, Deal, Broadstairs, Margate, Whitstable or Ramsgate or go walking in the gorgeous Kent countryside.
If you’re after culture, try the renowned Turner Contemporary in Margate then tuck into some fish and chips on the beach.
Take the kids to Dover Castle and let their imagination run wild pretending to be kings, queens and Knights.
