About this place

Best bits

  • From comfortable bell tents to fire pits and a shared outdoor chill out zone, Campwell Farm has been created to help you kick back and reconnect with nature.
  • Take a splash in the indoor heated swimming pool – a short walk away from the tents.
  • Super comfy beds and fresh country air help happy campers enjoy a good night's sleep – and mini stoves in the tents keep you toasty all night long.

Top tips

  • Embrace the digital detox experience – with no WiFi or electricity in the bell tents it’s the ultimate opportunity to relax and reset.
  • Pop over to The Common – a shared green space for games, snoozing and relaxing. Slow down and enjoy reading, talking or doing nothing.
  • Explore Campwell Farm’s beautiful surroundings by taking a wander to enjoy the views of the valleys nearby or the canal.

Accessibility

Campwell Farm is not completely suitable for wheelchairs due to the toilet facility, which has narrow spaces, or steps leading into them. Other parts of the sites/tents can be made wheelchair friendly. It is worth noting that it is predominantly grass, making access for wheelchairs tricky at times.

About the owners

Tim

Listed since June 2014

Owner Tim’s family have proudly farmed the surrounding land for five generations and his great grandfather, Herbert, ran the village pub in Winsley. Church Farm still has sheep (450 of them), but Tim decided to create Campwell Farm to offer other folks a bolthole to enjoy nature and get back to basics – in a highly civilised fashion.

Owner recommendations

  • The Kennet and Avon Canal is a base for fantastic cycling, walking or even boating. This is three quarters of a mile away from us.

  • Longleat is 16 miles away and is a perfect and memorable day out for all the family. We also sell tickets at a reduced rate.

  • Family-run Hartley Farm Shop, next door to us, is a great trip for all foodies. They serve delicious breakfasts, coffees and cakes. There is a play area for younger children.

  • There are also a couple of wild swimming spots nearby. Head down to the River Avon (in the nearby Limpley Stoke Valley) and take a refreshing dip. We can recommend several favourite spots and rope-swings. One in particular has the brilliant Cross Guns pub round the corner too.
