Campwell Farm is home to eight canvas bell tents spread across two sites. Each tent sleeps up to four people in a double bed and up to two single beds, which are made up ready for your arrival. Towels are included.

A basket full of logs and kindling is provided to keep your stove going through the evening. You’ll find outside seating and a fire pit outside each tent to help you embrace the alfresco experience. A compost toilet facility block is a short walk away and there is a shared larger kitchen and shower facilities in the middle of the site.

Eat

Being a self-catered site, a fully equipped kitchen is available for campers to use. There are gas hobs, a BBQ and a large shared fire pit (as well as a smaller fire pit next to your tent). A solar powered fridge and cool boxes are provided to store food.

If you fancy taking it easy, Campwell Farm is also ideally located for excellent eateries. The Hartley Farm Shop and Kitchen is a very short walk to the next door farm and the local pub, The Seven Stars. The nearby town of Bradford on Avon has some tempting options too.

Activities

Sign up to a Farmcraft session, run by Camp owner Tim’s sister Becky, who leads fun and creative group activities around the farm and the woods. Make a nature-inspired headdress, bunting, build a den or learn how to create the perfect campfire.

Guests can also learn the ancient skill of sheep herding and take part in a time trial obstacle course. If you fancy something a little more adrenaline inducing, hop across to Bath for kayaking, raft building or a code breaking challenge. All activities require pre-booking and have an additional charge.

Accessibility

Campwell Farm is not completely suitable for wheelchairs due to the toilet facility, which has narrow spaces, or steps leading into them. Other parts of the sites/tents can be made wheelchair friendly. It is worth noting that it is predominantly grass, making access for wheelchairs tricky at times.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Campwell Farm is located off the B3108, between Bradford on Avon and Bath and the nearest motorway junction is the M4 at Bath or Chippenham. Winsley is the closest village.

By Air

Bristol airport is the closest air link – approximately 25 miles away in a car (just less than an hour’s drive). Heathrow is around 95 miles (two hours’ drive) from site.

By Rail

The nearest train station is Bradford on Avon, only two miles from Campwell Farm. Bath is five miles and a short taxi drive away, too.

About the owners

Tim

Listed since June 2014

Owner Tim’s family have proudly farmed the surrounding land for five generations and his great grandfather, Herbert, ran the village pub in Winsley. Church Farm still has sheep (450 of them), but Tim decided to create Campwell Farm to offer other folks a bolthole to enjoy nature and get back to basics – in a highly civilised fashion.

Owner recommendations

The Kennet and Avon Canal is a base for fantastic cycling, walking or even boating. This is three quarters of a mile away from us.
Longleat is 16 miles away and is a perfect and memorable day out for all the family. We also sell tickets at a reduced rate.
Family-run Hartley Farm Shop, next door to us, is a great trip for all foodies. They serve delicious breakfasts, coffees and cakes. There is a play area for younger children.
There are also a couple of wild swimming spots nearby. Head down to the River Avon (in the nearby Limpley Stoke Valley) and take a refreshing dip. We can recommend several favourite spots and rope-swings. One in particular has the brilliant Cross Guns pub round the corner too.
