Anglesey is a small island with a big personality, and offers plenty of things to do. From coastal walks and impressive historic castles to woodland adventures and beach days, there’s something for all families to enjoy. Home House Farm is surrounded by rich woodland for some wholesome family walks and forest trails. For a taste of fresh, coastal air, head along the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. Stretching over 200 km around the island, the path offers a range of walks through abundant natural landscapes, unspoilt countryside, coastal scenery, and 20 charming towns and villages. The path falls within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and passes through a National Nature Reserve, farmland, saltmarsh, rocky cliffs, dunes, and foreshore so you can get a real feel of the varied landscape and geography of the island. The official starting point is the coastal Holyhead which is well worth a visit. It’s the largest town on the isle with plenty of attractions to see and things to do. Take a walking tour of Caernarfon Castle, visit the South Stack Lighthouse, or learn about the town’s history at the Holyhead Maritime Museum. Walk 8 from Holyhead to Trearddur Bay is packed with stunning views and culture. Rising up Holyhead Mountain, you’ll pass an Iron Age hill-fort and some lovely beaches like Porth Dafarch. If you can’t get the kids to join your walking expeditions, why not book a boat trip to see Anglesey from a different angle? Head to the beautiful coastal town of Beaumaris for a sightseeing cruise across to Puffin Island, Llanddwyn Island, or around the coastline.

The property’s close proximity to the infamous village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch means you simply can’t miss out on a visit during your stay. The small village has the longest place name in Europe so why not find the railway station and get a picture by the sign - it’s one for the family album. The iconic Snowdonia is also less than a 20-minute drive from the house and the national park has a diverse range of walks through beautiful, striking landscapes. From peaks, to ancient woodland, boardwalks, hills, falls, estuaries, and summits, there’s trails for everyone. Eryri is also steeped in history, heritage, wildlife, and a big sense of community - you can even take tours through the rugged landscapes and immerse yourself in the folklore and mythology.

Conwy is also  less than half an hour’s drive away and is a lovely day out for the family. The small walled town is home to one of Wales’ UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Conwy Castle, which you can wander across for views all around the town and out to the sea. When your feet are safely back on the ground, head to the harbour for some fish and chips or a crab sandwich and watch the fisherman dock their boats with their day’s catch. You’ll also find The Smallest House in Great Britain here! Llandudno is only 15 minutes from Conwy so why not head there for an afternoon of fun at North Shore Beach? Or for some impressive views, drive to Aber Falls and gawp at one of Snowdonia’s most dramatic waterfalls, it even has its very own whiskey and gin distillery!

For adventure-seeking families, there’s plenty of opportunities for adrenaline and exhilaration in the area. Zip World at Penrhyn Quarry is home to the fastest zip wire in the world and you can fly 500m above the ground over the old quarry near Snowdonia! In the Conwy Valley, you’ll also find Betws y Coed Zip World which has a range of forest adventures for all ages from the Fforest Coaster to treetop adventure courses and a giant swing. Head back to Anglesey for coasteering, canyoning, scrambling, and cliff-jumping on the impressive Prysor canyon for some water adventure. Anglesey is also home to some wonderful beaches such as Rhosneigr on the west coast, Amlwch, and Bellech for a more relaxing day out.
