Top tips

Remember to pack swimwear for the hot tub, the nearby leisure centre (a great rainy day activity) and wild swimming spots for those that can brave cold waters.

Woodend Farmhouse is perfectly suited to both relaxed gatherings or more active family holidays. After a long day of fun activities, or hours whiled away in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, put your feet up in the large lounge furnished with four sofas, a smart TV and a fireplace to keep winter visitors cosy. Large french windows led out into the private garden where you’ll find a fire pit, several furnished terraces with far reaching views across the farm, and a 12-person hot tub complete with jets and a bluetooth connection. Hours of fun can be had in the beautiful old oak-beamed games with pool, table football and a box of garden games. Back in the main house, guests are accommodated in seven beautifully styled bedrooms. The indulgent master suite, Big Cat Nap, features an emperor bed, an en-suite bathroom and generous storage. Dreamweaver is a generous family room, provides flexibility with two singles and a zip-link super king. Rest Nest boasts a double and single, close to the family bathroom with a luxurious freestanding bath, shower and his-and-hers basins.

On the top floor, Sleep Sanctuary guests can sleep up the stunning sloping ceiling of the Sleep Sanctuary, with exposed beams and a delightful comfortable zip link super king bed. Hibernation Hub has a double and sofa bed. Retro Roost charms with retro Mr Men wallpaper and a double. The spacious Drift Away Den includes a zip-link super king and a cosy snug with a Smart TV and comfy sofas – an ideal hideaway for older children and teens. There are three full family bathrooms spread across two floors, with an additional WC located on the ground floor. Luxury feather bedding, plump pillows, sumptuous percale bed linen and fluffy cotton towels are provided for each guest. Eco-friendly hand and shower soap are also provided in all the bathrooms. Cribs are available for young infants and can be set up in the room of your choosing. In the enclosed back porch you will find utility essentials including a washing machine and tumble dryer. A shed in the corner of the courtyard houses pre-cut firewood and recycling bins.

Eat

When tummies rumble, cook up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen kitted out with two full size fridge-freezers, a five-ring hob, double ovens, grill and everything you need in the way of pots, pans and utensils to create a tasty feast. For easy, stress-free breakfasts, you’ll find two four-slice toasters, two kettles, a dishwasher, a microwave, lots of crockery, cutlery and glassware as well as child-friendly tableware and beakers. Kitchen essentials including tin foil, clingfilm, tupperware, eco washing up liquid, cleaning products, tea towels, spices, oil, sugar and various other odds and ends are provided. There is a selection of good quality, organic herbal and breakfast tea, in addition to a dedicated barista station for coffee lovers which includes a SMEG coffee grinder with rich coffee beans, a SMEG espresso machine and preground filter and instant coffee. Arrive to a kitchen stocked with complimentary orange juice, organic dairy milk, oat milk, biscuits and a bowl of fresh fruit. You can pick up the rest of your groceries from one of several supermarkets in Malvern or Worcester. Or get a shop delivered to your door, ordered ahead of time.

Serve your culinary delights in the large, oak beamed dining room with a table seating 14. Eat in front of a roaring log burner if it's chilly outside, or throw open the french windows on a warm summer's eve.The breakfast table in the kitchen has chairs and benches to seat nine. A child's high chair can also be provided. If the weather is too nice to sit inside, tuck into al fresco meals on the terrace, with a barbecue available for your use. Alternatively, head out to eat at a number of wonderful places nearby. The Red Lion in Cradley is a great family- and dog-friendly pub with a lovely garden. Or visit the Malvern Hills Hotel for an excellent roast. For something a little fancier, try the Plough and Harrow in Guarlford. Malvern is home also to a number of good Indian and Nepalese restaurants.

Activities

There is so much on offer at Woodend Farm, adults and kids alike are spoilt for choice. Take advantage of the unlimited use of the hot tub, enjoying the excellent views and countryside air surrounded by bubbles. Kids of all ages will love the games room, complete with pool table, darts, table football, sofas and a large selection of garden games including croquet, rackets, rounders and more. Indoors, you’ll also find board games and Lego providing rainy day entertainment. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, guests are welcome to hire the two-storey converted Party Barn with it’s own sound system, lights and an upstairs chill-out space. Woodend is also home to a small events venue, occasionally hosting weddings or gatherings between May and September. While the venue is separate from the farmhouse, guests may sometimes hear music within licensing hours. Guests are always notified of upcoming events, and are often welcome to join in, listening to live music, joining in kids’ activities, tucking in at food stalls and the licensed bar.

Guests are also encouraged to explore the farm’s 400 acres of rewilded meadow and woodland directly on your doorstep. For those wanting hands-on farm experiences, pig feeding, bee keeping, pony care, farm tours, tractor rides and creative workshops like mushroom carving or fairy door painting can all be arranged. A small yoga studio is also available for hire, with or without a practitioner, for yoga or sound baths. Beyond the farm, there’s even more to do and discover. Nearby Malvern offers cafés, vintage shops, spring water fountains, a leisure centre and pool, an independent theatre and beautiful hikes up the Beacon and British Camp. Families will enjoy St Peter’s Garden Centre with its petting zoo, or The Fold at Bransford, a community farm with wild swimming, markets and trails. Adventurers and thrill-seekers can try horse riding, kayaking on the River Severn or climbing parks. History lovers shouldn’t miss Eastnor Castle, with its playgrounds, trails, maze and packed events programme. From Woodend Farm relaxation, adventure and countryside charm are all on your doorstep.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Woodend Farmhouse Stays is just 20 minutes off the M5. It’s midlands location makes it easy to access from the rest of the country, being less than a three-hour drive from Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, London, Cambridge and more. There’s plenty of parking available at the property.

By Air

The nearest airports are Birmingham or Bristol, both around a two hour drive from the countryside site.

By Rail

The closest train station is Malvern, just a 15-minute taxi drive away. You’ll find regular services to London, Birmingham and Hereford.

Woodend has been my partner's family farm for over 60 years. It's a slice of heaven and I truly love it here. We have such a beautiful community and it's lovely to spend my days surrounded by nature and animals. I originally worked within the small onsite events venue, but have happily taken on responsibility of running Woodend Farmhouse Stays. In my spare time, I love riding my horses and am always happy to recommend one of the good nearby riding schools.
