With plenty of living space including a state of the art kitchen and a fabulous black granite cobbled patio outside with eating area, it is the perfect space for families to kick back and relax. Stacks of child and teen friendly extras, three large bedrooms (one with a fab hideaway for the kids) make this perfect for a luxurious family break.

The village of Westow provides an idyllic setting for the cottage, with both the picturesque North Yorkshire countryside and coast, and the historic city of York within easy reach.

Top tips

Leave the baby and toddler paraphernalia at home - everything from cots to cotton wool, blender to blackout blinds is included.
You’ll receive a complimentary welcome hamper on arrival but for more provisions pre-book an organic fruit, veg and meat delivery.
To make the most of visits to York consider investing in the York Pass which gives entry to over 45 attractions including York Minster, Jorvik, DIG and The York Dungeon.

Yew Tree Cottage is gorgeous. The owners have achieved that perfect balance of homely charm and luxury, with wooden floors, wood-burning stove, and tasteful furnishings combining seamlessly with modern comforts where you need them. The child-friendly list is endless with stair gates, baby bath, toddler ready-beds, bed guards and more all available for peace of mind, plus games, books, PS2, Smart TVs and DVDs to keep older kids amused.

Downstairs there’s a large kitchen, cloakroom with a loo, dining room with fantastic rectory table perfect for board games, and a cosy lounge with doors out onto the secluded courtyard garden. Upstairs are 3 sumptuous bedrooms with beds made up with luxury linens. The king room has space for 2 cots, whilst the twin room also has a library area that’s just perfect for tweens and teens who need some space of their own. Luxuriate in the beautiful roll top bath (organic products provided!) in the family bathroom.

Eat

The family kitchen is superbly equipped for family meals, and you’ll find an array of kiddy kit in the cupboards including plastic tableware and cutlery, hand blender and a steriliser. Outside there’s a Weber BBQ and plenty of space around the garden table for all the family.

On arrival you’ll find an excellent complimentary hamper including cake for afternoon tea, a bottle of wine, and breakfast provisions. Organic food deliveries can be arranged, and there are a number of pubs and restaurants in the area for meals out. For some indulgent dining you can request the services of a private chef who will cater for you in your cottage - and clear it all away too.

Activities

Inside Yew Tree cottage you’ll find a good selection of toys, games, books and DVDs for some gentle family fun. Older children will love chilling in the library area, or playing on the PS2 in the lounge. In-cottage spa and beauty treatments can be arranged for some parent pampering, or book a babysitter for evenings out.

A short stroll from the cottage there is a lovely children’s play area, plus opportunities for some wonderful walks.

The building dates back to 1750 and has non-standard door widths, stepped access and bedrooms and bathrooms on the 1st floor.

Leeds Bradford Airport is just over an hour away from Yew Tree Cottage.

Malton Station is a short taxi drive from the cottage, and has fast and regular connections with York.

Eden Camp is a unique, multi-award winning modern history museum, taking you back in time to the period around WWII.
Flamingo Theme Park has wonderful rides as well as over 120 different species of wildlife.
Just a short distance from the cottage is Castle Howard, Yorkshire’s finest stately home and estate.
Harry Potter fans will love a trip to Goathland station which was used as Hogsmeade station in the films, plus there are some lovely walks around the area.
Take a scenic drive through the Esk valley to Robin Hood’s Bay - perfect for fossil hunting and fish and chips by the sea.
Head even further back in time and visit the time of the Vikings at JORVIK.
