We make a point of aiming to visit everywhere we list here at Away with the Kids. So a few months back we sent one of our lovely reviewer families to go and stay at the stunning Wallops Wood Cottages in Hampshire - gorgeous cottages that are perfect for all ages. Over to Angela...

One Friday after school, we packed up the kids and the car and drove for just over an hour to the Hampshire South Downs to spend a weekend at the family-friendly cottage complex Wallops Wood Cottages. What an absolute treat!

We arrived in the dark but the cottages were all lined up down a lit driveway almost like a small street - so easy to see. We retrieved the key from the security coded box attached to our cottage and opened up the door. Airy, modern and spacious and oh so very, very clean! The type of super shiny clean where you open drawers and aren't greeted to slightly murky spoons!

A welcome pack greeted us with full-sized produce, including 2 pints of milk and a whole pack of butter. Such a great touch and all local too! I also especially liked the Nespresso coffee machine complete with pods and a milk warmer (very important for those lattes). The array of extra items that came with the cottage were impressive - salt, oil, foil. Eco-friendly washing up liquid, washing powder and dishwasher tablets. Just brilliant! It saves so much on the pre packing.

You can also pre-order age appropriate toys, games, books and paraphernalia such as highchairs and bottle warmers for your children so that also saves on what you need to cram into your car to take with you. Underfloor heating and a wood burner meant we were always cosy too.

There is a detailed information folder full of ideas of places to go and things to do including shopping, eateries, kids activities and walks which is really useful. We wanted to rest and make the most of the peace and quiet and the facilities there so didn’t go off-site and do any exploring.

Each cottage has its own hot tub and there is also a swimming pool which was WONDERFUL. The cleanest pool I have ever seen. The kids absolutely loved it because it was so quiet (I don’t think we saw anyone else in it when we were there and the cottages were pretty full). They felt like it was their own! They probably spent half the weekend there! I would recommend you take slippers and a bathrobe to pop on over your swimsuit and just head over to the pool in that as it is such a short walk and it means you can easily get ready and changed in your own space, both before and after your swim. The heated towel rails in the bathrooms meant you always had a dry swimsuit to put back on too.

This place is perfect for all ages. Our 17 year old loved it as much as our 8 year old. Here is what they (and my husband) had to say about Wallops Wood:

I liked the swimming pool because it’s a good place to swim and relax. You get to spend time with your family playing board games which is fun. I also used the postcards they have there to write to my grandparents.

They have a TV in each bedroom so I could spend some time by myself watching TV/DVD’s. I also enjoyed the homemade cake that was left for us.

I really enjoyed the hot tub. The view was amazing especially watching the sunset. I really liked the underfloor heating around the cottage as it meant you were always warm.

A very stress free experience as you don’t have to pack much. It’s all there. A place to spend quality time as a family doing things you wouldn’t normally do like playing board games. It’s difficult to find activities/ holiday that will mean they are all happy but this one nails it! I really enjoyed the hot tub, very relaxing with a wonderful view. Very well equipped kitchen, I could still cook for my family without annoyance of missing items. WiFi was a big hit with everybody! Particularly enjoyed the wine and local beer which is made down the road.
