Family Safari Tents - Sleep 6
Large family safari tents, set in wooded glades, are decked out for comfort with a big wood-fired range, comfy beds and sofas, private facilities and the run of your own County Wildlife Site. Stay in one of the six fully equipped luxurious tents that sleep a family of 6, with a four-poster bed, cool cupboard bed and bunks, all ready made for the whole family. The tents are divided into three rooms. The first containing the kitchen facilities with Belfast sink and hot and cold running water, the lounge area and the cabin bed, the second the big four-poster and the third the bunks. In the lounge you'll find a big sofa, the wood-burning range, the dining area and the cabin bed. Out the front is some more seating for al fresco dining and at the back is your own private gas-powered shower and flushing loo. Luxury Lodge Tent Meadow Fescue is at the edge of a meadow, close to the parking area and has electricity while all the other tents are at the back of the same meadow. One of the six tents now boasts its own hot tub.
Need an Additional Bedroom - Book Gypsy Caravan - Sleeps 2
A cosy gypsy caravan with comfy double bed, table, bookshelves, seating, fitted wardrobe and a generous amount of storage space. Candle lanterns provide atmospheric lighting at night. The gypsy caravan can only be booked with a Luxury Lodge Tent, (the caravan enjoys the most secluded spot at the end of a meadow) to sleep two extra guests, or just to provide another special space for you to sleep or relax in during your stay in a Luxury Lodge Tent. Please note there is no heating in the gypsy caravan so it is only made it available from May to the end of September.
The Hobbit Box - Sleeps 4 in double bunk beds
Camp with the kids in a very charming, converted wooden horsebox with views across the beautiful Ley Meadow. Bedroom with cosy built-in double wooden bunk bed, living space with sofa, table, wood-burning stove, storage space and a kitchen area with butlers sink, fridge and gas cooker (includes hobs, grill and oven). A private loo and shower building is just next to the Hobbit Box.
Outside there is a raised decked area with seating, as well as table and chairs next to a beautiful oak tree which overlooks the Hobbit Box. You can use the electric wall lights and/or the candle lanterns for lighting at night.
Much of the furniture in the Hobbit Box is hand-crafted from wood. Traditional velvet curtains decorate the windows and many pieces from the cookware to the tableware have a vintage style. Some items have a specific Middle Earth theme and range from goblets to board games. Prints by Alan Lee, Daniel Reeve and J. R. R. Tolkien are displayed on the walls. The main entrance to the Hobbit Box is a stable-style door and some of the opening windows are, of course, round, in the hobbit fashion. An enchanting realm is to be found in the Hobbit Box, especially during moonlit evenings.
The farm pantry is stocked with a broad range of quality food and drink to nourish and refresh you during your stay. Most of the food and drinks for sale are organic and/or locally produced. There are many gluten-free options too. If you don't find all you need, an excellent farm shop is in the village (Grange Farm Shop), just 5 minutes drive or 10 minutes cycle ride away. Secret Meadows offers a range of tempting 'Specials' to choose from such as breakfast hampers, pizza oven and barbeque packages.
Good for children... and parents
Children can enjoy wholesome outdoor activities including Bushcraft and Wild Ways workshops (at an extra cost), meeting the animals and simply exploring their nature connection by playing in the woods or being in the wildflower meadows. There are lots of things to do at the wildlife site and in this very popular area of Suffolk, which is full of rich heritage and attractions. Hire bikes for adults and children, including ‘kiddy karts' and ‘tag-along' bicycles are available.
Enjoy Great Days Out in Suffolk
For days out, Secret Meadows is close to the beautiful market towns of Woodbridge and Framlingham with its historic Castle, and within easy reach of the Suffolk coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Easton Farm Park is a short drive away with pony and cart rides, family train rides, plus lots of animals to meet. Africa Alive is a Safari park set in coastal parkland. Jimmy's Farm founded by TV presenter Jimmy Doherty is home to rare breed animals, a Butterfly House, woodland walk and restaurant. What The Kids Say.....
The bed in a cupboard was a fun highlight for our 4 year old.
The start of our stay led to our first adventure where a pull along trolley is needed to transport your cases to your tent, the kids loved the trolley and being involved and helping pull it along.
Our 4-year-old son would say “are we going back to our home now?”. He really made himself at home straight away because it was made to feel that way by the owners.
“I really loved the ice cream” – being able to go and choose from so many flavours in the pantry shop.
Being able to actually collect freshly laid eggs from the hen coop minutes after they had been laid and getting up and checking if there were any first thing in the morning.
