About Toms Eco Lodge

Toms Eco Lodges takes glamping to the next level. It's an idyllic spot for families or friends looking to spend some laid back time together.

Calling all fence–hopping, rock climbing, kite flying explorers. Head for the Isle of Wight… it’s time to book a fresh air adventure family holiday.  For those of you who still haven’t tried glamping (that’s luxe camping) then we have a gem of a place to be a glamping fresher at. Toms Eco Lodge where you can escape from the trappings of a gadget prone 21st century and immerse yourself in the great outdoors, green fields , sandy beaches and ancient oak trees of the Isle of Wight. Taking the drive up the country lane to Tapnell Farm, you are literally surrounded by the fields and glorious countryside of the West Wight, with the sea glistening in the background – you know you’re on to a winner!

Tom is the son of a dairy farmer at Tapnell Farm who decided that the hectic thrill of London life had worn thin and so set about nurturing his dream of a eco holiday heaven that would emulate the charm of an Island childhood. Tom’s Eco Lodge takes Glamping to the next level with five beautiful Safari Tents, two Cabins & two Pods. Each nestled away in the glorious surroundings of the 400-acre family farm. There’s nothing quite like warming your tootsies near the wood burning stove or having freshly laid eggs cooked for breakfast or the joy of your kids not constantly hooked into technology and gadgets. Toms eco Lodge is nestled into woodland on Tapnell Farm and it is a special place.  Children will relish nothing more than the sense of freedom as they run around in open spaces, climbing trees and building dens or pulling on wellies and splashing about in rockpools on the local beach.

The Safari Tents

Five Safari Tents, complete with two bedrooms (one double and one bunk) a double cabin bed (all with electric blankets), a spacious living dining area including a double sofa bed and wood burning stove, fitted shower and flushing wc, and a kitchen with a Belfast sink. Yes maybe this is more like a canvas cottage than camping but it’s a fantastic way to give the family the experience of life under canvas without missing out on our beloved creature comforts. The safari tents enjoy sea views both north and west, surrounding the glorious rolling landscape of the Island. Each tent is perfect for a family of up to eight with the use of the additional sofa bed in the lounge (surcharge applies).  Rustic dining table and chairs form the central piece for each lovingly made meal. Comfy sofas make the perfect space to relax or play a board/card game together. There is also a decked area to sit back and relax on, and a grassy glade to play and bbq in. For an extra bit of luxury, two of the Tents boast a decadent wood burning hot tub. The scenic vista is spectacular all around, from watching the sunset over the horizon to star gazing on a crystal clear night.

Added extras are dotted around the site; hammocks to laze in, wood burning outdoor pizza oven and 5 multicoloured hen houses, equipped with little doors that open to reveal complimentary fresh eggs for breakfast.

Each Cabin will sleep up to 8+2 guests in three bedrooms and an additional double sofa bed if required (surcharge applies). There is one double, one twin and one with 2 bunk beds (4 singles). Each room at the front of the cabin looks out to breathtaking views across the West Wight towards the famous Tennyson Downs, Monument and Freshwater Bay. The cabins also have a family bathroom and shower room, an open plan living area, fully equipped kitchen and two comfy sofas (one can be made into a sofa bed). There's a deck at the front of each cabin with a bbq and seating area, offering a great space to sit out in the sun and to admire the views and tranquility of the farm. One of the cabins also has a wood burning hot tub.

The creatively designed 'pods' are perfect for a small family of 4, as in addition to the double bed, the sofa bed can accommodate another 2 if required (surcharge applies).
