Thoughtfully designed, this contemporary coastal home has been styled to combine modern living with a relaxed coastal theme. The gorgeous 2 Headland Place has four bright and spacious bedrooms sleeping up to eight, with room for a cot. On the first floor you'll find a generous family bathroom, two lovely double bedrooms and a bunk room that works brilliantly for kids wanting a fun room of their own. One of the doubles and the bunk room have stunning sea views. The master bedroom is found on the second floor with stunning views and an ensuite bathroom; a peaceful escape for grandparents or parents.

Outside of the sleeping spaces, guests enjoy a gorgeous living room with a big squidgy sofa where you can spend cosy evenings watching films and playing games. A Smart TV will keep kids entertained on rainy days. If you’re visiting in warmer seasons, enjoy whiling away days in the glorious garden; complete with barbecue and seating. You'll also find an outdoor shower out there – for rinsing off after the beach! A large kitchen-dining room offers plenty of space to cater, and there's a washing machine for chucking in muddy and sandy clothes. Enjoy wifi throughout the property and two parking spaces on the private drive.

Eat

The open plan kitchen/dining room is large and lovely. Fully equipped, it meets all your self-catering needs. There's even a dishwasher to help avoid any bickering over washing up. You'll find dining space with seating for up to eight; perfect for an evening meal and night in. If the weather is glorious, head outside to enjoy meals under blue skies. The large gas barbecue is a must-use, and goes well with delicious, locally reared and butchered Welsh beef and lamb.

You'll find an abundance of farm shops on your travels in and around Aberporth or there are a number of large supermarkets in Cardigan. Alternatively, avoid driving by grabbing essentials from the local village shop. A few of the nearby farm shops and butchers also deliver regional goodies to your door. If you want a night off cooking, try one of several great local food and drink establishments in Aberporth and the surrounding villages. The hosts will leave a list of recommendations in your welcome pack or email it to you ahead of time. And of course, nothing beats eating fish and chips as you watch the sunset over the sea. The harbour at Aberaeron is a firm favourite for locals – and it has a ice-cream parlour for the those looking to indulge in a dessert course.

Activities

2 Headland Place's brilliant location, mere moments from a dreamy cove, is sure to guarantee hours of relaxed and easy fun. Nothing beats a day, or two, or three, spent sunbathing, castle building, swimming and rock pooling. Do this on your doorstep at Aberporth beach, or travel slightly further afield and explore the miles of beautiful coastline Cardigan Bay has on offer. For those chasing a little more adventure, you'll find watersports centres offering lessons in surfing, paddleboaring, kayaking and more.

Or take it slow. Put on your walking boots, grab a pair of binoculars and pack up a picnic before heading out to amble along miles of coastal paths with breathtaking panoramic views. Take a right straight out the front door to access the coastal path which leads you all the way to Tresaith Beach and a stunning natural waterfall. Nature flourishes wildly and happily in this blissful corner of the UK and kids of all ages will love spotting dolphins, seals and a whole menagerie of sea birds. Rainy day attractions are also plentiful too. This is Wales, after all! From farm based attractions to local theatre, there is something to keep everyone entertained and happy.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Aberporth is hidden away on the West Wales coast. Driving from Cardiff is just over two hours, Birmingham is around three and a half and from Manchester it takes four. The peace and quiet of the idyllic village is certainly worth the drive.

By Rail

Camarthen train station is around 20 miles away with direct trains to Manchester and Cardiff.

We have been visiting Aberporth for over 10 years with our three children and can honestly say it has our heart. The community, the people, the wildlife, the water sports, the dolphins and the sea air, it’s a place we now fondly call a home from home. We are delighted to open the doors of 2 Headland Place so others can experience Aberporth, Cardigan Bay and its surrounding areas. We took ownership of the property at the start of 2021 and we have lovingly refurbished the house throughout. Fundamentally we wanted to create a relaxing coastal retreat that was family friendly for guests of all ages to experience Aberporth, Cardigan Bay and all that West Wales has to offer.

Owner recommendations

Aberporth or Tresaith beaches are brilliant family beaches. But Mwnt beach is also worth checking out. It's a great option for body boarding and playing in the estuary.
Indulge in some classic seaside fun and spend the afternoon crabbing. Often frequented local crabbing spots include Gwbert, New Quay Harbour or Aberaeron Harbour.
Little ones will love spending time at the Aberporth playground, complete with a small football pitch. Located opposite the village shop, it's only a short walk from the house.
Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park has something for all ages. Great play park with café, a farm where you can feed the animals and even some seal spotting if you are lucky.
Enjoy one of our family's favourite walks; along the coastal path ro Tresaith. If the tide is far out enough, you'll be able to find the fabulous waterfall.
On a rainy day we love to go to Theatr Mwldan, a theatre and cinema in Cardigan.
