What a fantastic place! We have been to Humble Bee twice and will be going again. Julie and John at the farm greeted us with a warm welcome, the children loved visiting the animals, the dog loved the farm, we loved the hot tub.

Rooms

Humble Bee Cottage is a superb granary conversion, with oak beams, arched windows, a spacious lounge with a log burning fire and fabulous views. If you are a family of five (ie, two adults and three children) a child’s z-bed and linen is available for an extra charge. There's a boot room too, to store outdoor clothes or beach stuff!

The cottage offers all the comforts of home in stunning surroundings - you'll find a beautifully furnished lounge with TV, iPod dock, radio etc. The 40" smart TVs have free-view channels and are connected to the cottage WIFI, you don't need to miss out on those Netflix/Amazon or Now TV programmes! The cottage has central for year round cosiness and a wood-burning stove for a real country cottage feel.

Outdoors the cottage has it's own patio with garden furniture.

Humble Bee Farm knows how important your holiday is to you and your family; so if you have a toddler, ask for the special toddler box to help keep them occupied. There is also a high chair and travel cot available on request.

The cottage is dog friendly - one well behaved pet please - tariffs apply.

The property has free parking for guests.

Short breaks are available from September to Easter.

Eat

The cottage is self-catering with excellent facilities. There's great open plan kitchen-dining rooms so you can chat while you cook with a microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, oven, hob, storage cupboards with crockery, cutlery, pans etc provided. If the weather is looking good, head outside and eat al fresco.

There is a handy on-siteshop / reception which is open daily at peak times. There shop stocks a mouth-watering range of locally sourced fresh produce, including local meats to enjoy on your barbecue, as well as souvenirs, kids’ games, toys and sweets.

The Hive café bar is on site and is open during busy times offering freshly cooked breakfasts, evening light bites and pizza nights. With a well-stocked bar, you can relax with cocktails, locally brewed beer, Prosecco, and soft drinks. Hot drinks include barista coffees, hot chocolates and freshly brewed teas.

During high season Humble Bee Farm hosts pizza nights when guests can pre-order pizzas which are cooked fresh to order with gluten free and vegan options available. There are lots of places to eat off-site including Mayfield in Seamer, and Harpers fish and chips (delish!).

Activities

Fun family-friendly events are run throughout the year – think farm walks, lambing weekends, pumpkin carving, Alpacas Adventure, Bonfire Night, Christmas events and more. Kids can run off steam in the outdoor play area, complete with fireman’s pole and there's an indoor play barn onsite too.

As a working farm, you'll find plenty to amuse the little ones - although the highlight for little ones has to be the animals, families can see the livestock in barns and meet the Farmyard Gang including Tilly the Shetland Pony, alpacas, goats, sheep, rabbits, guineapigs, ducks and hens. Your children will love collecting a fresh egg from the Humble Bee chicken houses for breakfast!

Humble Bee Farm is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the country. Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, the farm is within easy striking distance of the seaside town of Filey - a day at the beach is a must - and surrounding villages. A little further away is Bridlington to the south and Scarborough, Whitby and picturesque Robin Hood's Bay to the north.

By way of contrast, the stunning scenery of the North York Moors National Park is just a short drive away inland. You'll also find heritage railways, spectacular swimming pools, historic castles… there really is something for everyone.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Humble Bee Farm is located just off the A1039 near Flixton, approximately ten miles south of Scarborough, or seven miles west of Filey.

By Air

Leeds Bradford Airport is just over 90 minutes drive from the farm.

By Rail

The nearest railways stations are Seamer and Hunmanby, five and six miles away respectively.

We welcome families to our wonderful working farm in the Yorkshire Wolds, offering excellent holiday accommodation in a stunning valley close to the golden sands of the Yorkshire Coast. Families have returned to Humble Bee Farm Cottages for ten years and have created great memories and shared special experiences.

Owner recommendations

We love the golden beaches at Scarborough and Filey – great for all ages and a good spot to tuck into tasty fish and chips.
Peasholm Park is great for a day out – again in Scarborough, it’s a free to enter attraction with boating lake, putting greens, café and Rare Tree Trail.
North Yorkshire Moors Railway is one of the country’s most spectacular heritage railways and well worth a visit.
Thrillseekers should head to Flamingo Land theme park where you'll find fun rides and a zoo.
Alpamare Water Park, based in Scarborough has exciting water chutes, infinity pool and more.
