Poggiovalle is located in Umbria, overlooking the Tuscan hills. It’s a place where time passes slowly and where you can rediscover the joy of a peaceful country walk, a splash in the pool, a visit to the animals or an excellent meal in the restaurant. Accommodation comprises cosy family apartments and houses, each with its own private garden, located in two ancient villages surrounded by nature in the Valdichiana.

The Poggiovalle Estate comprises two villages, each consisting of a series of houses, apartments and a gorgeous outdoor pool. Borgo Belvedere has 14 apartments and villas located in one hectare of unspoiled nature. The smaller Borgo Granaro has six houses surrounded by open spaces and views. In both locations the sensitively renovated farm buildings offer simple, peaceful and traditional accommodation in a brilliant location.

Every family can find the perfect property for them, amongst the brilliant range of one to three bedroom apartments and houses. Some within their own gardens, and others neighbouring one another (great for large groups or multi family holidays). Open fires, air conditioning, calming interiors and a terrace is found in every one.

Eat

Guests can taste dishes created with Poggiovalle’s own produce at the fantastic on-site restaurant. Chianina meat, cheeses from the dairy, honey from the bees, olive oil and vegetables from the garden all contribute towards a truly authentic and delicious Umbrian-Tuscan menu. Take a table on the wide porch or in the beautiful garden to enjoy a view with your food.

Alternatively, eat at home with access to the same tasty ingredients and a kitchenette where you can prepare your own Italian feasts! Every villa has its own dining space – opt for al fresco and start your day right with a fresh coffee and some fresh air. Cooking classes, truffle hunting, wine tasting and cheese production workshops are all available too. A culinary adventure awaits.

Activities

There is more than just food and farming on offer at Poggiovalle. Amongst the woods of the estate you can immerse yourself in wonderful and unforgettable journeys; there are trekking routes that satisfy both experienced hikers and those looking for a leisurely amble. The same routes can be explored by bike (available to hire), or you can go further afield and explore the surrounding steep and hilly terrain.

Of course, a day or two (or three) should be spent taking it slow by the pool and in the fabulous grounds. Poggiovalle is a haven of relaxation, and there’s no better place to finally finish that book you’ve been reading for months, talk, play and reconnect with your family, and appreciate the peace and serenity of rural Umbria.

Accessibility

Poggiovalle seeks to ensure all guests feel welcome and accommodated. Most of the properties are located on the ground floor, with easily accessible bedrooms and bathrooms (some with showers).

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Poggiovalle is easily accessible by car. From Rome/Florence you can follow the A1 towards Fabro for most of the 90 minute drive. From Perugia, drive for around an hour on the E45, then SR220.

By Air

The nearest international airport is Aeroporto di Perugia. Hire a car there and drive around an hour to Poggiovalle. Alternatively fly to Rome or Florence, only 90 minutes away by car.

By Rail

There are train stations at nearby Fabro and Chiusi. Regular services take you to Florence or Rome from Fabro-Ficulle and Chiusi-Chianciano Terme.

Poggiovalle is an original and ancient rural village. Until the end of the 1960's about 1000 people who lived mostly on sharecropping lived with their families in these houses. It has since been converted into the Poggiovalle we see today; the whole estate, consisting of two hamlets (Borgo Belvedere and Borgo Granaro) was transformed into an accommodation facility to allow everyone a 360° experience of the Umbrian countryside.

If you come by car, we have a wide list of interesting sites to visit nearby between Umbria and Tuscany.
Try some of Poggiovalle’s own Chianina meat in the restaurant, one of the oldest and most important cattle breeds in Italy.
Rome and Florence are only an hour and a half away by train – get your fill of shopping, culture, art and ice cream there.
Spend an afternoon walking from the Poggiovalle Estate to the Salci Castle and back.
