Isabel and Paul have created a gorgeous retreat hidden away in the Umbrian Hills. It's a small child's paradise with shaded play areas, tons of toys, a splash pool, mini football, bikes and ride-on toys. For older kids the table tennis, badminton, mini golf and croquet will keep boredom at bay. The stunning larger pool overlooks the Abruzzo mountains - this is a good spot for all ages! Twice weekly Isabel prepares delicious home cooked meals - partake and have a night off. Cascina really is an escape from the rat race - you will be glad you found it…

About the owners

Isabel & Paul

A few years ago we gave up our jobs in the city to pursue a dream of living and working in Italy. We spent several years painstakingly restoring our abandoned 17th-century farmstead and replanting the 20 acres of surrounding olive groves and abandoned countryside. We are passionate about three things here at Pian di Cascina; food, responsible tourism and quality family time. We are lucky enough to be living the Italian dream and enjoy helping families do the same.

Owner recommendations

  • Flex Village Water Park is only 40 minutes from the villa – take a picnic, relax on the sun loungers and let the kids explore the pools, slides and sports facilities.

  • Enjoy a spot of shopping at Rosso Pomodoro - perfect for rainy days. A bouncy castle and face painting is available at the weekends too.

  • Visit Perugina Chocolate Factory for a fun family day out for all ages. Enjoy free guided tours or workshops at this chocolate lovers paradise.

  • Citta Della Domenica Park in Perugia has a miniature train, a fairytale village, zoo, playgrounds, a reptile house, botanical gardens and several other amazing attractions

  • Umbria is full of hilltop castles, and there’s no better way to get your children interested in history than through a game of damsels and dragons at a real-life castle. Carsulae is a must-see.

  • Enjoy outdoor activities ranging from rafting to safaris, canopy tours to go carts, bike rides to archery at Activo Park Scheggino, a huge nature park only one hour drive from the villa.

  • Explore Rocca Maggiore in Assisi - another partly restored castle with tunnels, towers, and turrets galore.
