Located in the stunning Andalucian hills north of Malaga, nestled into the side of a beautiful south facing valley this delightful villa has been lovingly converted from an artist’s studio into the perfect family holiday home. The secluded location offers peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of Malaga. Once an artist’s studio the villa has been thoughtfully decorated to offer a stylish and comfortable home from home, with high ceilings and air-conditioned bedrooms. There is accommodation for a family of four, plus a baby. The master bedroom has a king size bed, plenty of room for a cot, a seating area and full en-suite bathroom. A childrens twin room comes with toys, books and an en-suite shower room. Insect screens on all the windows coupled with ceiling fans in the main rooms makes for very comfortable summer nights.

This is a pretty little house with a bougainvillea covered entrance to a safely enclosed courtyard and a gated pool. It is private and peaceful, perfect for outdoor living. The shaded eating area has a handmade Moroccan-blue mosaic table, sun loungers for lazing away the days and a gas BBQ for those balmy summer nights.

Eat

There is a fully equipped kitchen with all the facilities you need to prepare delicious family meals. There is dining space inside, but guests tend to prefer al fresco eating under the covered dining area (who wouldn’t!). A built in gas BBQ complete with tools is just waiting to be used. For a night off cooking without having to leave the comfort of home, you can also peruse the simple supper menu and order a home cooked meal prepared by the owners and delivered to your door.

Away from the villa, around 10 kilometres from home, is the pretty whitewashed village of Casabermeja, with a brilliant range of shops, grocers, excellent restaurants and tapas bars. Sit in an old square, steeped in character and history, admire the views and tuck into some delicious, traditional food. Or a head a little further, down to the coast, and sample all the best of Spanish seafood and wine to accompany.

Activities

Enjoy the sunshine and the pool, go for walks by the river and through the olive and almond trees that surround the villa, try spotting the goat herd on the hillside when you hear their bells jingle. A smaller terrace to the shady side of the property is a designated children's play area with a sandpit, slide and toys to keep the little ones entertained. Inside there are toys, books and games aplenty. A television with some English channels and a DVD/CD player with lots of DVDs is set up for cosy evenings in.

A little further afield there is plenty to be explored. The villa is well located near a motorway network providing easy access to the whole of southern Spain. Visit the national park of el Torcal and its incredible views and rock formations, take a trip to the beautiful old town of Antequera to see its famous architecture and visit the dolmens or check out the historical cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba (all around one hour away!).

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

The villa is around 30 minutes north of Malaga on the MA45 and one hour south of Cordoba on the MA45.

By Air

The nearest airport is Malaga, around 40 minutes from the villa. Granada is an alternative, at around one hour away. You’ll need to hire a car for both options, as the villa isn’t accessible by public transport.

By Rail

The nearest railway station is Malaga, again around half an hour away.

By Sea

The nearest port is at Malaga, with ferry routes heading to Tangier in Moroccan.

We came to the area on holiday for our 20th wedding anniversary and loved it so much we decided to look for a holiday home. A few years later we found this little house, we spent a year renovating it. We moved here full time in 2001. We loved watching how much our grandchildren enjoyed it here and we are keen to offer the same experiences to other families and children. With all baby equipment and toys already here, it’s a brilliant house for family holidays. We love it and our guests do too!

Owner recommendations

The coast has several water parks to choose from, many including boat trips out to sea where you can spot dolphins!
If you need more entertainment there is the Biopark zoo in Fuengirola with everything from tigers to monkeys.
There is so much to do here, from a local walk in this beautiful countryside to a trip to some of the historical cities that are around us.
The beach is always a good choice. You can spend the whole day lounging in the sun watching the kids play in the sea or build sand castles.
Head to Paloma Park where little ones can blow off some steam playing games on the lovely open lawns. There are animals to meet too–rabbits, chickens and ducks on the lake.
Enjoy the peace of this holiday home away from the bustling coast, yet only a 30 minute hop from Malaga, sandy beaches and the family friendly facilities of the Costa del Sol.
