There are luxurious accommodation options to suit everyone at Rockliffe Hall. Old Hall bedrooms are the epitome of understated elegance, whilst the New Hall offers interconnecting rooms perfect for families. Tiplady Lodge has double and twin rooms, many with private balcony or patio.

Families with younger children, or those wishing to self-cater will love the 2-bedroomed apartments on the ground floor of Armstrong House, with fully equipped kitchens, lounges and dining areas. Or stay in one of the 4 bedroomed Woodland Mews houses which offer guests the chance to experience all the benefits of the luxury resort, from the privacy and intimacy of your own self-catering accommodation.

Activities

Relaxation and active adventures get equal footing at Rockliffe Hall. Children are welcome in the swimming pool morning and afternoon, and you can borrow rackets and balls for playing a few sets on one of the 2 all-weather tennis courts. The 18 hole Championship golf course is one of the best in England, complete with pro shop and academy overseen by 4 PGA professionals. The technogym is perfect for those wishing to burn off some calories, or just take some time out with a treatment or chill in one of the many heat rooms in the spa.

The jewel in the crown for families has to be the MischMasch area, including sensory play, cinema, games room with xbox, and library all in gorgeously curious wooden cabins, set amongst tranquil woodland. There’s also a large eco-playground, an interactive water play area, plus wildflower walks, kitchen garden and bird hide to explore.

Rockliffe’s location is perfect for discovering the treasures of historic Durham City including the UNESCO World Heritage site. Head to the coast and explore the Victorian charm and heritage of Saltburn , with beautiful beach, pier, independent shops and cliff lift.

Hamsterley Forest is perfect for walks, paddling in the river, and hiring bikes. Little ones will love meeting the animals, and playing indoors and out at Adventure Valley, whilst older children can take on the high ropes or try out archery at Beamish Wild.

Food and Drink

Delicious food for all the family makes a stay at Rockliffe Hall truly memorable. Children’s menus are available in the Clubhouse and Brasserie restaurants, and there’s even a special children’s breakfast menu including toasties, pancakes and beans on toast to name a few. Afternoon teas (and children’s themed afternoon teas) can be taken in the Clubhouse, as can the ever popular Sunday lunches - make sure you book ahead! Enjoy stunning views, alongside home-grown and local seasonal produce served in the Brasserie.

For a child-free dinner to die for, book a childminder and then head to The Orangery, Rockliffe Hall’s 4AA Rosette restaurant, and experience the exquisite tasting menus and exceptional wine pairings.

Kids and Parents

Luxury touches extend to children at Rockliffe with children’s robes, slippers, and toiletries all provided. Away from your room or self-catering accommodation they’ll love to explore the Curious Cabins in MischMasch, the resort’s wonderland for children of all ages - play pool, watch a film, read a book or burn off energy in the soft-play pod.

Spend some quiet time together and take a trip to the bird hide to watch the birds on the bird feeders. Don’t forget to write it on the “twitchers” board . Keep little ones busy with school holiday activities including falconry, crafts, ride-on Mercedes Benz cars, games and much more.

Parents can indulge in some grown-up time and head to the spa, golf course, or restaurants and bar by making use of the childminding services.
