Lymerac is a small cluster of three lovely, recently renovated traditional stone gites: the Cottage, Farmhouse and Pigeonnier, offering different accommodation options for various family requirements.
This is a truly child friendly location, with two of the three properties set on one level - great if you have a buggy, easy for little legs to navigate and less worry for hazard conscious parents!
Lymerac welcomes disabled guests. There is wheelchair access around the site, two of the properties are set across a single level - and there is a wheelchair friendly wet room available.

Top tips

Relax and enjoy this pretty enclave of classically French countryside.
Kick back in a hammock and admire the sunflower fields, and spend hours between the swimming pool, play area and exploring the 12 acres of land on a borrowed bike.
Even the tiniest of legs will be able to manage a short stroll down to the nearest town, Salle Lavalette - let the whole family enjoy discovering organic fruit, veg and more at the Friday market.

All on one level, the two bedroom Cottage has a spacious open plan living area with exposed stone walls and feature fireplace. South facing French doors open onto an enclosed courtyard.

The three bedroom Farmhouse is again set out across one level, with a spacious open plan living area with high vaulted ceilings and exposed oak beams. French doors open onto an enclosed courtyard.

The Pigeonnier hosts three bedrooms and has a spacious oak beamed lounge and dining area with exposed stone walls. French doors lead out onto a private south facing patio.

Each property is equipped with garden furniture and a BBQ for summer evenings and UK satellite TV. Cots, high chairs, baby monitors, booster seats, bed guards etc are available free of charge.

Eat

These are self-catering gites. All three cottages have country style wooden kitchens, fully equipped with a gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster and coffee maker.

If you don’t fancy cooking dinner every night, a selection of home-cooked meals using fresh locally sourced ingredients are available every evening. Meals are delivered ready to eat and as we are in France, come with wine (or fruit juice).

The options include spaghetti bolognaise, fish pie, vegetable curry, vegetarian chilli and cheese and onion quiche, reasonably priced between 8-10 Euros per person.

Activities

Take a stroll through the walnut orchard down to the lake or borrow some mountain bikes to explore (baby seats and kids’ bikes are available too). Return to the swimming pool and enjoy the heated pool and smaller kids’ splash pool, while taking in panoramic views across the Charente Dordogne border.

The enclosed courtyard has a huge sandpit, swings, chute and climbing frame. For slightly older kids and the adults, badminton, table tennis and petanque,should keep everyone occupied, with a little friendly competition. Alternatively, pour yourself a glass of wine and relax in the hammock or loungers in the shade of mature trees.

Accessibility

All cottages have been designed to allow wheelchair access, making Lymerac ideal for disabled and/or elderly guests. Doors are extra wide and rooms are spacious and allow for a turning circle. Power points are at a higher level.A disabled shower chair and large wheeled shower chair are available and additional disabled equipment can be provided.

By Air

Lymerac is 30 minutes from Angouleme airport (flights from Stansted), 1 hour 30 minutes from Bergerac airport (flights from Southampton Leeds, Exeter, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands, Liverpool and Stansted). It’s 1 hour 45 minutes from Bordeaux airport, (flights from East Midlands, Manchester, Bristol and Gatwick).

By Rail

The nearest station is Montmoreau. From there, it’s a six mile taxi journey to Salles Lavalette.

Owner recommendations

Visit Villeboise Lavalette: a market town around 20 minutes from Lymerac with banks, supermarket and shops. Every Saturday you’ll find a covered market where you can enjoy a dish of fresh oysters with a bottle of Muscadet.
One of the 'plus beaux villages' of France, Aubeterre is worth a visit for its cafés and restaurants. Also at Aubeterre is a sand covered river beach with play area, open air restaurant and canoe hire.
Brantome is a charming medieval town between the arms of the river Dronne with ancient monastery, grotto and canoeing.
Adventure Park Lacs De Haute Charente offers an adventurous day out with an adult and junior treetop adventure, with a mini course and bouncy castle for younger children.
Visit Cognac: famous for its Cognac houses- Remy Martin, Martell and Hennesy.
