Blanches is a superb coastal holiday home and cottage with glorious sea views, set in a peaceful and private location surrounded by unspoilt countryside. The three acres of sheltered, south-facing gardens are a mini Heligan with graceful lawns and secret areas to explore. Lansallos Cove, an ideal swimming beach, is a walk away. Lying between Looe and Fowey, the spectacular National Trust coastline is a 10 minute walk from the garden down an exquisite, almost private valley.

About the owners

Trevor

Listed since May 2011

My wife and I live in London with our three boys aged 11, 8 and 3. We get down to Cornwall whenever we can and spend most of our holidays there. As soon as we arrive at Blanches the boys rush off into the gardens to play in the tree house, or bounce on the trampoline. The two houses are fabulous, and the site is totally unique. You couldn't find a better Cornish family holiday destination.

Owner recommendations

  • Lansallos Bay is a 20 minute walk down a smugglers' track to a beautiful enclosed bay with good swimming and a waterfall.

  • Children love Lantivet Bay with its big rocks to run around, little stream to play in, and rock pools to explore.

  • The Bodinnick to Fowey Car Ferry is a unique experience and provides easy access between mid and East Cornwall. It is handy when exploring the lanes and beaches to the West of the Fowey River.

  • Most of the coastline between Fowey and Polperro is owned and protected by the National Trust. There are some fantastic beaches, and period properties to explore.

  • If you want drama, go to Lantic Bay – it’s well worth the walk back up.
