Top tips

Hire a baby or toddler pack for everything from sterilisers and monitors to pushchairs and potties.
Ask about the pre-arrival shopping service, which enables you to order nappies, baby food and wipes.

The 32 properties range from cosy one-bedroom cottages to spacious modern houses that sleep eight. Many are beautifully converted farm buildings, retaining lots of original features. All have outside space, complete with garden furniture and BBQs.

Some properties have dishwashers and washing machines, and laundry facilities are available on-site for those that don’t. A few of the properties have their own private, heated pool, while those at L’Hammeau and the Old Puygironde development benefit from shared pools.

Eat

In addition to self-catering facilities you can pick up fresh bread and breakfast pastries from the clubhouse. The on-site restaurant is very family-friendly, offering lunchbox-style children’s hampers for lunch, as well as a kids’ menu and organic baby food.

During high season guests can enjoy the weekly barbecue night. The bar is a great place to relax, whether for a coffee or a glass of something cold.

Activities

A highlight is the heated outdoor pool, with smaller children’s splash pool. Kids will love running around the gardens, exploring the play area and the children’s club. There’s also a toddler play area next to the bar, so you can enjoy a drink while the kids play.

A number of sports, including tennis and basketball, can be played in the sports barn (note that some are only seasonally available), and the Manoir even has a nine-hole golf course. Alternatively, guests can unwind with a spa treatment, or use the Manoir as a base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

The manoir is a 16-minute drive east of the D674.

By Air

The nearest airport is Angoulême-Cognac, a 50-minute drive away. Also within easy reach are the airports at Bergerac (75 minutes) and Bordeaux (80 minutes).

By Rail

Connect in Paris and take the train to Angouleme station which is a 45 min drive from Longeveau. Car hire is available from the station.

A huge number of outdoor activities are on offer at Poltrot, just seven minutes away by car, including bubble football and a high-ropes course.
One of the best ways to explore the wonderful countryside that surrounds is on horseback with Ecuries Des Chênes.
Soak up the peaceful River Dronne from a canoe or kayak, which can be hired from Aubeterre-sur-Dronne.
