The brilliant family focussed facilities include a faulous indoor pool, onsite restaurant and bar and indoor play room and grounds to explore - the gate to the beach is a joy!

If you were to sit down and think “Right, if I could create the perfect holiday escape, how would it look?” odds are you’d come close to The Rosevine – come close as I think they’ve probably exceeded the essentials on your list. Located on the south coast of Cornwall, overlooking Gerrans Bay and Portscatho, The Rosevine is a welcoming family-friendly retreat and a very stylish one at that.

The part Georgian house is split into 12 self-contained apartments, suites and studios, which in some instances have separate bedrooms. All have sitting and dining areas and discreet well-equipped kitchen facilities, as well as a flatscreen tv and dvd player. There are sea-views, large French doors that open onto private decked terraces, comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen and good toiletries to pamper yourself with.

Downstairs the cosy drawing room provides a perfect adult zone – you may just get to flick though a paper while the kids get to enjoy the decadent and shockingly elegant children’s den next door (I aspire to it!) equipped with toys, games, a large screen tv, books, dvd’s and an X Box. There’s also a sunny morning room that adjoins the dining room to relax together in.

Eat

As this is a family friendly retreat you get the fantastic benefit of tremendous staff happy to provide you with delicious meals if that cooking urge just isn’t kicking in. The dining room is open most days from 9am until supper, where delicious rustic style food is served 6 times a week. Children’s food is very considered, very tasty and always goes down a treat – the house chefs even make their own ketchup.

You can shop from the deli list, where you can order essentials, such as milk, bread, pots of home made jam, breakfast cereals, locally cured meats, snack boxes or picnic hampers for the beach, wine from the house selection?and prepared dishes that can be heated up for an evening in. So you see you have a choice; B & B, self cater, dine in or dine ‘out’ in the lovely Restaurant, whilst the kids get to enjoy the Den or sleep safely with your baby monitor on alert.

Monitors are available to borrow, otherwise bring your own trusty stead!

Activities

Together with the indoor swimming pool and the 2 acres of grounds, there’s plenty of stuff to be getting on with and space for everyone to do their thing. The large lawn is a brilliant spot for relaxing on and there's a lower field for the kids to run wild; the garden is equipped with trampoline, little wooden play house, a climbing frame with rope ladders and swing and a Little Tykes toddlers climbing frame.

And don't forget the gate through which you can take the short stroll to Porthcurnick beach metioned above. Owned by the National Trust, it’s large and sandy and perfect to while away sand castle building hours.

It's worth noting that the house can be booked in it's entirety for large party gatherings - so birthdays, anniversaries, weddings or simply a "let's hang out together" weekend can all be accommodated.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

To reach The Rosevine by car, follow the A30 or A38 towards Cornwall. Once in the county, head towards Truro and take the A3078 towards St Mawes. Follow signs for Portscatho, then continue along the coastal road toward Porthcurnick Beach. The Rosevine is well signposted, and there’s ample parking on-site. The property is nestled in a peaceful location, perfect for a scenic drive through the beautiful Roseland Peninsula.

By Air

To reach The Rosevine by air, fly into Newquay Airport, the nearest major airport, located approximately 25 miles away. From there, you can rent a car or arrange for a taxi service to take you on a scenic 45-minute drive through the Cornish countryside to the hotel. Alternatively, you can fly into Exeter Airport, which is about a 1.5-hour drive. Both airports offer domestic and limited international flights, with Newquay being the most convenient option.

By Rail

To reach The Rosevine by rail, take a train to Truro Station, the nearest major station, located about 13 miles away. From Truro, you can either hire a taxi for a scenic 30-minute drive to the hotel or catch a bus towards St Mawes, alighting at Portscatho, followed by a short walk to the property. Truro Station offers regular services from major UK cities, making it a convenient option for those traveling by train.

By Sea

To reach The Rosevine by sea, take a ferry from Falmouth to St Mawes. This scenic journey offers stunning views of the Cornish coastline. Once in St Mawes, it's a short drive or taxi ride of about 10 minutes to the hotel. The ferry service runs regularly, making it a unique and picturesque way to travel, especially if you're coming from the Falmouth area.
