Top tips

Bring wellies or sturdy boots for the farm walks, joining daily animal feeding and for the riding school.
Home cooked meals, freshly frozen can be put in your freezer for your arrival – ideal after a long journey.
Book horse riding in advance as the riding school is very popular and books up at some periods during the year.

Treworgey's 5* Cottages are the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries. Everything is provided to ensure that your stay is as stress free as possible from the warm welcome to the information packs found in each cottage. Enjoy the stunning views from the privacy of your own garden. The cottages are individually furnished and beautifully decorated with Sanderson and Laura Ashley fabrics featuring soft comfy sofas, old oak beams, Inglenook fireplaces and crackling log fires.

There are 15 gorgeous period cottages on-site, overlooking the Looe River valley, all beautifully furnished to provide extremely comfortable and tranquil surroundings.

Cottages range for one to six bedrooms; all have space for cots and benefit from their own private garden. One of the highlights of the cottages are their views over the valley, and many of them have cosy fireplaces so they’re perfect throughout the year. The luxurious country-style decor is complemented by modern amenities like dishwashers, TVs and DVD players.

Beds are extremely comfortable, crisp white sheets and fine bedding is provided, as well as soft fluffy bath towels.

Wireless Internet Access - is available to all either in some cottages or in the information room.

Well-behaved dogs are allowed in several of the cottages, with prior arrangement.

Eat

The cottages are all self-catering with fully equipped, modern kitchens. For those who cook you'll ifnd perfectly equipped kitchens with dishwashers, food processors, etc. For those who would prefer not to you have the option to select feshly prepared home made dishes, and have them popped into your freezer for when you arrive. Fresh cakes and tea time treats are also on offer most Fridays.

Otherwise head off site and enjoy a meal out. Cornwall is famed for it's restaurants, in particular seafood and there are plenty on offer – try the Sardine Factory and Little Barn for guaranteed deliciousness, not too far away.

Activities

Children's dreams can come true at Treworgey; they can run through a field, fly a kite, build dams in a stream, climb trees, picnic in a wood, swim in a warm clear pool, play tennis, ride a pony, help feed animals, hunt for eggs in the hay, stroke a friendly goat, or build sandcastles and swing from a climbing frame. Parents, sitting at a garden table in the playground, can watch over youngsters and at the same time chat and enjoy the fantastic view. The log climbing frame has a swing, slide and ropes, and nearby a really big sandpit with ride on toys.

In the warmer months there’s a heated outdoor pool. in such a stunning setting, with plenty of space to lie and soak up the sun while your children swim or play. There is a paddling pool beside the main one, as well as a playpen to keep the very young and inquisitive contained, while parents swim. The pool is open from mid May to mid September and at other times according to the weather., while the outdoor spa pool and sauna are open almost all year round; spa treatments are available.

For times when the weather is not too great there is not one, but two indoor playrooms housing an 'indoor beach', which is a big sandy area in a barn with a net for badminton or volley and buckets and spades etc for digging and sandcastles. The second play room with pool and table tennis, a wooden train set, building bricks, indoor trikes, games and a Wendy house is a great place for all ages to hang out. A shed space is available for storing your bikes too. There is also a large outdoor sand pit with ride-on diggers.

There is a wealth of wildlife on Treworgey's 170 acre estate and some super walks. You can frequently see badgers and foxes only a short distance from the cottages, and numerous species of birds. Further afield The Lux Park Leisure Centre indoor pool in Liskeard (15 mins) has water flumes and is a popular outing with families in inclement weather. There are beautiful beaches just a short drive from the cottages. A monkey sanctuary can be found near Looe, Porfell Animal Farm and nature studies nearby. The Eden project is 30 mins drive and there are various National Trust houses and gardens nearby which have facilities and events for children.

Accessibility

There are several cottages that are all on one level with parking right outside. They strongly encourage guests with special mobility requirements to give them a call to discuss the best-suited cottage.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Treworgery Cottages is five miles from the A38; be sure the take the route via Dobwalls as this is the easiest (and least narrow and windy).

By Air

The nearest airport is at Newquay, 45 minutes’ drive away; car hire can be arranged in advance here.

By Rail

The nearest station is at Sandplace; it’s about a mile’s walk up the hill to Treworgey Cottages from there, or it might be able to arrange a pick up with warning. The closest main-line station is at Liskeard, 6 miles away.

We have restored Treworgey's beautiful period buildings over the last 40 years and are now joined by our daughter Holly and her husband Andy. Our family are on-site 24/7 and Treworgey is a life-long labour of love for us all.

Owner recommendations

The Eden Project is a 40-minute drive from Treworgey; there is nowhere else like this in the UK, and there’s always loads of activities for children.
The kids can burn off lots of energy at spectacular Bodmin Moor, just a 20-minute drive away; take a picnic and spend the day exploring.
Treworgey is just three miles from the south Cornish coast with its romantic little coves, safe calm waters for children to swim or rock pool, and the beautiful coast path.
The nearest fishing town, Looe, is just 3 miles away and has loads of lovely family-friendly cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as a safe sandy beach.
Lanhydrock is a beautiful National Trust house, gardens and estate with brilliant bike trails and a super cafe, not to mention a river at the bottom of the estate where you can swim.
