Poltarrow Farm has been welcoming families to Cornwall for over 40 years. The Nancarrow family have built something genuinely special here – daughter Libby, a Ritz-trained chef, shaped the stylish interiors. Kate runs the morning animal feeding rounds that children talk about long after. The Eden Project and beautiful beaches are 15 minutes away, but families often find they've barely left the farm.

About this place

Best bits

  • The heated indoor pool is open from 8am to 8pm and warm enough for year-round swimming — a huge plus for Cornwall, where the weather can be unpredictable. At a constant 1.4m depth, parents can stand comfortably alongside little ones, with a changing mat, Bumbo and playpen poolside for families with babies.
  • The heated sports hall is a genuine standout: trampoline, climbing wall, table tennis, short tennis, badminton, pool table and short mat bowls under one roof — a brilliant option when energy levels need burning whatever the weather.
  • The Tumble Room is dedicated entirely to under 5s — soft building blocks, tunnels, slides, a dressing-up box and stimulating games designed specifically for little ones to explore, play and let their imaginations run wild.

Top tips

  • Pack wellies, swimmers, waterproofs and suncream. With 45 acres, a pool, a sports hall and farm animals on site, you’ll want to be ready for anything — and the Cornish weather will likely oblige.
  • Cottages are perfect for year round holidays but note that the pool is closed from November - Mid December, and January - Feb Half Term.
  • Book a babysitter early if you’re planning an evening out. Cornwall has some wonderful restaurants and the farm can help arrange cover, but demand is high in peak weeks.

The Nancarrow family have been welcoming guests to discover Poltarrow for nearly 40 years. Cornish born and bred, we purchased Poltarrow in 1982 and brought up our children here - who now work at the farm - whilst establishing the holiday business. At Poltarrow we live and breathe Family Friendly and lots of what we do is aimed at making sure that EVERY family member is happy.

Owner recommendations

  • The Eden Project is just 15 minutes away and a must see during your stay.

  • Young and young at heart train enthusiasts will love Lappa Valley.

  • For an autumn walk you can't beat Golitha Falls.

  • Grab your pots and head to Mevagissey for the best crabbing.

  • Embrace the freedom of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, again just 15 minutes from Poltarrow.

  • Take a trip to Charlestown to explore some familiar Poldark places.

  • Pack up a picnic and go for a day out on the beach: Porthpean is perfect for rock pooling, and Watergate Bay is a wave watchers paradise.

  • St Ives can be reached by train and is an art lovers dream - get hands-on at the Tate or explore the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden.
