Day Location Accommodation Activities
Day 1 Arrive in Quito Swissôtel Quito Spend your first day getting your bearings at this stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site and Cultural Capital of South America. In the evening, you’ll get a welcome briefing by a trip leader to discuss the details of your trip and answer any questions you may have. You will be staying the night at Swissôtel Quito.
Day 2 Travelling to Zuleta Zuleta Hacienda Hotel Spend the morning driving north of Quito into the dry valley of Guayllabamba which is full of plantations of avocados and chirimoya. After a stop to taste the local fruit, continue to Mira Lago where you’ll take in the amazing view of the San Pablo Lake and the Imbabura Volcano. Arrive at the Otavalo Indigenous market, known for handicrafts made from alpaca and sheep wool. After enjoying a traditional lunch, continue to the nearby small village of Peguche to learn how the indigenous people use their skills to make gorgeous tapestries and embroideries. After a couple of hours, head to Zuleta Hacienda to spend the night.
Day 3 Zuleta Hacienda Zuleta Hacienda Hotel This is a local day where you will explore the beautiful property of the Hacienda. Your guide will start you off at a cheese factory, and later go for a short walk to try and spot a condor - one of the largest birds on earth and Ecuador’s National bird. In the afternoon, you will have the option to ride a horse around the Hacienda or just relax in the grounds. You will stay the night there again.
Day 4 Papallacta Hot Springs Papallacta Hot Springs Resort After breakfast you will drive for an hour to the Equator line where you can stand on both hemispheres at the same time. Visit the museum here where you will learn about the relationship between the Equator and old Andean civilisations. Later, drive to Papallacta Hot Springs to relax soaking in the volcanic waters or taking a massage at the spa. You will stay at the spa resort for the night.
Day 5 Cotopaxi National Park Cotopaxi National Park Head to the nearby cloud forest reserve to view the most amazing hummingbird species while drinking a hot chocolate. Later, continue driving through the avenue of volcanoes to Cotopaxi National Park where you will hike for a couple of hours around the Limpiopungo lagoon to spot wild horses and bulls, some little birds and with some luck, the majestic condor. In the late afternoon you will enjoy storytelling around the bonfire. You will camp in the park for the night.
Day 6 Cotopaxi National Park Cotopaxi National Park In the morning you will have breakfast with the incredible Cotopaxi Volcano as your backdrop. Head out on your mountain bike and ride on flat terrain on a road and a single track, for about 15 km. Take in the amazing landscape of the Andes before arriving at a very charming Hacienda where you will spend the night.
Day 7 Quito Swissôtel Quito After a very healthy breakfast you will drive to Santa Rita Cloud Forest reserve and hike to the first line of the canopy. Here you will learn about the flora and fauna that exists in this area while enjoying the zip line adventure. In the afternoon you will travel back to Quito for your last dinner as a group. You will stay the night at Swissôtel Quito.
Day 8 Quito Departure day Time to fly home!
