Tips from the owners

Local things to do, places to eat and attractions not to be missed.

  • Keen explorers and geology lovers will be fascinated by Chamarel: the soil of this intriguing site is composed of various shades ranging from orange to purple and ochre. Chamarel is home to the Rastafarian movement in Mauritius and has a reggae influence.

  • Visit the small, quaint village of Baie du Cap and climb the steep steps to the Maconde viewpoint. The climb is worth the effort (leave the buggy in the hotel and take a sling if needed). You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the coastline and Indian Ocean.

  • Explore the Mauritian passion for tea by following the Tea Route at the Bois Cheri tea plantation – a culinary and cultural journey into the history of tea production in Mauritius.

  • Take a trip to Mahebourg’s Monday market - a vibrant mix of stalls. All ages will be fascinated with the heady mix of food, spices and other goodies on offer.

  • Heritage Nature Reserve offers a selection of themed excursions, enabling visitors to reconnect with nature through extraordinary adventures. Activities available include 4x4 safaris, quad, buggy and trekking.
