North Bradbury Farm

Child friendly farm, Devon – North Bradbury Farm, Chittlehampton, North Devon

About North Bradbury Farm

A really fun, relaxed place to be with farm animals, a pool and lots more to keep the kids happy!

North Bradbury Farm provides all you could need for a truly memorable and relaxed family farm holiday. Amazingly child friendly from toddlers to teenagers, both indoors and out, the two cottages that were once the stables and barn have all you might need for a fantastic carefree family holiday.  Both cosy and tastefully decorated the cottages are kitted out with all kinds of child-friendly paraphernalia meaning you won't have to worry about your child getting up to mischief; Tracey has provided all you could think of and more and is on hand to offer recommendations.  The lovely thing here is that there are only two cottages and so the children won't be over-whelmed with others - and they get more time doing whatever is available!

North Bradbury is an ideal safe and secure place too for your budding little farmers - with ponies to ride, eggs to collect, animals to visit and feed twice daily - a favourite with all! It is a working farm and the children are encouraged to embrace the fresh air, be at one with the animals and get muddy (pack your wellies)! Farmer Chris is on hand to make their experience a wonderful one!

With a fantastic outdoor heated pool, wilderness area (with a mud kitchen and a place to book sausages on the campfire or toast marshmallows!), den building, adventure playground with a zip wire, ariel walkway, tree house, sandpit and a playhouse, there is something for every age group! If the weather isnt so kind, there is a games room with air hockey and table football, the barn where there is table tennis and a strawpit to jump around in and do what children love!

A fully equipped kitchen, an onsite farm shop full of frozen homemade take-aways and home grown meat perfect for cooking up a storm in the kitchen or BAR-B-Q ING. There is under-floor heating, comfy beds, as well as ideas such as cycling, golf and clay pigeon shooting with Farmer Chris for the grownups. It's the time shared that is the best - and there's heaps to do to share it!

Arrive at North Bradbury Farm as guests and leave as Friends!

The 'upside-down' properties are converted from the former 17th century stables and barn and have a wealth of original features (parts of the wooden cider press remain in The Cider Barn). Both are equally tasteful and comfortable and offer all you will need for an easy self-catering holiday, from the pans to the dishwasher to the cosy beds!

The Cider Barn comprises a double bedroom, bathroom and toilet downstairs, half landing to fully- equipped kitchen/dining room with stairs leading to the spacious first floor living room with bed settee - stair gates are available. There is room for an extra z bed or cot if required.

The Stables has a double and a twin bedroom (which can be used as twin beds or bunks, making space for a cot or z bed) and bathroom downstairs with stairs leading up to a large open-plan fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, the living-room, containing a double bed settee and an upstairs toilet. A connecting door upstairs conveniently allows large groups to let both properties together (max. 10 persons).

Towels are provided, as are big fluffy duvets and bed linen, plug covers, window catches, games, CD player with Bluetooth for musical statues (do you ever get chance to listen to your own stuff?), TV's with Freeview, DVD player with DVDs supplied. Free unlimited Wi-fi provides for those internet dependent.

Outside each cottage has it's own decked area where you can sit and enjoy your surroundings; there are stunning views over the River Mole Valley and as you're south facing you can make the most of our precious sun-rays.

Laundry facilities are available externally so you can get all the washing done before you leave for home whilst the rest of the family enjoy the farm (did I say something wrong?).

High chairs and cots are available by arrangement.

The Farm Animals

What you don't get every day is 10 acres of farm land to explore and burn off the energy sufficiently to ensure a sound sleep. The day will start off with great anticipation for all mini-farmers waiting to help Farmer Chris feed his animals including Jacob sheep, pigs, goats, cats, dogs and horses, and they even get to start off on a breakfast egg hunt courtesy of the free-range chickens and ducks - the duck pond is fenced off. Pony rides can be arranged.

Please note that WELLIES are required for EVERYONE who wants to feed the animals – even during the Summer.

When the animals need respite there are lots of things for the children to enjoy. The fantastic heated outdoor pool is a massive treat and incredibly indulgent considering there won't be tons of others sharing it with you! lf you have exhausted the the three play areas you could always go and do one of the farm scavenger, animal or bug hunts.there is a badge if you comlpete them ! And for some down time you could cosy up on the settee and watch a DVD - we have over 100 something to suit all ages ! Or go the childrens library (in the farm shop) and choose some books to take back to your cottage...or go to the childrens library (in the farm shop) and choose some books to take back to your cottage (always good for a bedtime story) or borrow one of the many games to play or simply play in your cottage with the tub of indoor toys, the train set, bricks, puzzles or farm. The outdoor storage area for cycles and muddy wellies & buggies means there is no excuse not to get out and explore!

Out & About

There is tons to do - a farm walk straight from the doorstep; fishing on the River Taw, clay pigeon shooting and golf to enjoy. If you want to see what's around, the North Devon Link Road is just 10 minutes away making it easy to explore and enjoy Exmoor and the North Devon Coast, with all their attractions on offer. Just ask Tracey what you might do or where you might go - she'll give you lots of ideas.

Baby-sitting can be arranged should you feel like a trip out to the local pub just 1½ miles away (or one of the many other pubs and restaurants in the area).
