A truly Italian welcome awaits at La Cuccagna - beautiful food, spectacular views and wonderful places to visit. This working organic and eco-conscious farm is the perfect place to get away from it all and experience the rural Italian way of life without compromising on luxury. Relax by the gorgeous infinity pool taking in the spectacular views over Umbria and Tuscany, and explore the 12 acres of rural Italian grounds, abundant in seasonal delights such as wild asparagus, fennel and truffles. With all the baby and toddler kit you need, play area, babysitting and beauty treatments available you’ll all have the chance to unwind and and enjoy yourselves.
Rooms and apartments are simply chic and make use of local art, ceramics and textiles in the finishing touches. Weekly pizza nights, lunches and four course meals made with home-grown organic produce give you a real taste of Italy. Whilst located in the midst of unspoilt countryside La Cuccagna is also close to the villages, towns and cities of Umbria, perfect for exploring whatever the season.
In the large main house there are 3 gorgeous en-suite rooms with beams and tiled floors, sleeping 2-3. All rooms have luxury linens, plush towels, fluffy bathrobes and organic toiletries. The deluxe suite (also in the main house) also has a small en-suite kitchenette & seating area and private patio. The main house has a lovely living area with honesty bar for drinks and snacks, plus a spacious outdoor patio with shaded pergola.
La Cisterna is a beautiful B&B apartment set out over 2 floors with a private patio, luxury bathroom and a small kitchenette with simple cooking facilities. An ideal bolthole for a family with one or two children who can sleep on the comfortable sofa-bed.
La Stalleta is a self-catering cottage sleeping 2-3 which has been beautifully restored from the old cow shed. It has an open plan kitchen and living area, double bedroom and bathroom plus a spacious terrace with a pergola and BBQ.
La Cisterna and La Stalleta are air conditioned but the classic rooms and deluxe suite do not need it as they are well protected from the sun. The hilltop position affords a cooling breeze during summer nights which keeps the rooms comfortable.
Kids and Parents
There’s a wide range of baby and toddler equipment available including cots with bedding, high chairs, baby bouncer chairs, bumbos, toilet training loo seats, baby / toddler pool seats, buggies, bed guards for toddlers and a box of toys and books for babies and young children.
The pool is fenced and the property gated so it is super safe for wandering children. Little ones will love exploring the acres of grounds, cooling off in the pool, bouncing on the trampoline and playing on the swing.
Make use of the baby sitting service (day time as well as evenings) for some downtime - book in a massage or head out for a leisurely lunch or evening out. Make use of the poolside sauna for some ready-made relaxation .
As parents themselves the owners are amazingly welcoming to families, so as well as the baby equipment they try to ensure that they accommodate the more 'intangible' needs of guests too and are always on site. They will happily heat up milk and food for guests with young children staying in the rooms, arrange for a pre-arrival shop to be delivered for nappies and other bulky items you might not want to pack, and provide assistance for any of your families needs whilst staying at La Cuccagna.
Food and Drink
Continental breakfasts with home-made and local organic produce are served in “La Spasetta” - the delightful dining room with floor to ceiling windows so you don’t have to miss a moment of the view!
Light lunches are served on a daily basis, and authentic italian meals are offered 2 evenings per week, including a pizza night where Salvatore uses the outdoor stone oven to make a traditional and delicious supper. Home grown organic produce is used whenever possible - herbs, fruit and vegetables from the garden, plus wine, limoncello, olive oil, and chestnut products.
There are a number of excellent restaurants close to La Cuccagna, and the local village has a general store, a butcher and several grocers for those wishing to self-cater, as well as weekly markets in Gubbio, Perugia and other towns and villages.
