Rooms

Of the three resort hotels and 18 woodland lodges, the four-star Macdonald Aviemore Hotel and the lodges are particularly good for families. Hotel room options include two double beds, or rooms with a separate divider with bunk beds and TV for children that offer a little more privacy. The resort can also provide interconnecting rooms for larger families.

The luxury lodges are set in the forest, but just a couple of minutes walk to the resort and all that's on offer. They sleep up to six people in three bedrooms and include kitchens and private decks.

Eat

The resort has a number of restaurants to choose from, though during quieter times they might not all be open. Giovanni's Italian and Spey Burger are particularly popular with families, and during school holidays an additional restaurant – Pirates Cove – is in full swing. Children aged 16 and under eat for free in the resort’s restaurants (dinner only) with a paying adult.

The woodland lodges have their own galley kitchen and so give guests the choice between cooking and eating at home or using the resort’s restaurants.

Activities

At the centre of the resort is the purpose-built Aviemore Activity Centre, home to a large swimming pool with a flume and wave machine, aqua jets, sauna, steam room, whirlpool bath and a gym. There's also a four-storey soft play area, complete with a café from which adults can watch their children.

A selection of activity rooms allow children of all ages and abilities to play, including the toddler zone, sensory room and Xbox/games room.

Outdoors there is a play park and numerous activities including Segway treks, bike hire, grass sledging and archery. There's also a large cinema in the resort that shows the latest movies, and beauty treatments are available. The resort’s fantastic location means you can walk directly from there to the Craigellachie Nature Reserve.

Accessibility

The resort is accessible for wheelchairs, with accessible guest rooms, ground floor bedrooms and lifts in the hotels.

By Road

The resort is just off the main A9 between Perth and Inverness. Aviemore is an approximately 3 hour drive north from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

By Air

The closest airport is at Inverness, a 45-minute drive from Aviemore.

By Rail

Aviemore train station is just a five-minute walk away from the resort.

Animal lovers won’t want to miss the Highland Wildlife Park, which is home to polar bears and snow leopards, among others.
Young speed demons aged over eight will love Aviemore Kart Raceway, just two miles from the resort.
Take an aerial ride through the forest at Zip Trek Park Aviemore, a ten-minute drive from the resort.
There are loads of lochs in the area, but if you want some sand beneath your toes or to do some water sports, head to Loch Morlich beach, seven miles away.
